How about I change the title as "EOI an RX-8 meet in Hamilton, NZ"

also where is Hamilton (I barely pass Geography)? Time, date, venue and what to do? How long roughly does it take?

Maybe if you know 1-2 people driving an 8, you can decide what to do and see how many people join in. It is very hard if you ask people for their opinion, it will take more than weeks.

I had the same problem in 2003. There were hardly any RX-8 in Melbourne.

Go for it and good luck. Post pics and talk about it like it is your birthday.

I just changed the title for you. Tell me if it does not suit!

NZ Geography lesson for Taka.

I worked in Hamilton for a week. It is the land of grey imports. Every corner in Hamilton has a car yard full of them. A beautiful place though.

About 120km from Auckland it is a three day drive on coarse chip roads. (I was working for a maintenance company responsible for road building).

New Zealand has the world's best scenery and no well made roads.
If you don't mind a few potholes some of the drives are spectacular fun.

Pity you can't ferry to NZ with the 8 the way you can to Tassie.

Decide where you want to start and finish, how long it's expected to take and then pick a date and time 3-4 weeks away and invite people to join you.

It's that simple. Worst case scenario is that you have a great drive on your own.

Go for it NZer's!

Hi yushinrt - great idea . Been thinking about getting something going myself (& wondering how to go about it).
I'll be a definite starter . Good place to start from (my hometown) .
Some ideas

Waingaro for a BBQ & hot swim ? - Some great windy roads out that way
Over to the mount - I know some great "short cuts"
Track day at Taupo
Met a freindly guy from Commodore club who suggested we could tag along to their Puke track day .
"Test & tune" Drags at Meremere

BTW
What does EOI mean ?

Had a great day at the Performance Car hot lap . About 60 japanese performance cars in various states of tune battling for the title .
I was put in the bottom class with a couple of STI's an s15 an older evo an old modded WRX ,a supra and a few other odds and sods cars . My car was one of the only non turbo cars there and everyone seemed to have way more hp than I did . However I managed to come in 2nd in my group with a 1min23 sec lap . Not bad for my first ever competition.

Day was an EVO benefit really - there were about 6 of them in the final top 10 shootout . all putting out between 400-600 hp (acording to the anouncer) . Best lap of the day was a 1min13 .
Was hoping to keep up with a guy in an s 2000 but he was on race slicks & seemed to be very well prepared . He ran a best of 1min18 which got him into the top 10 the only N/A car to make it - pretty amazing considering a lot of cars behind him would have had double the HP.

Almost forgot - Was behind a 2006 stock STI for several laps on the practice session - my car would lose about 2 car lengths to him from 2nd gear through to the end of third but was better under brakes so he was actually holding me up

Nice Brettus,

Sad that the STi holding you up.

In Winton the S2000 has a similar lap times as the 8... so I think you can aim yourself on 1m 18.

ha ha - thanks for the tips the other day Taka . Didn't get a chance to get the alingment done unfortunately .

5sec is a hell of a lot to make up though . I think I could get a couple of seconds with better driving . I know he had taken out all the linings from the interior & had spent a lot on suspension mods (not to mention the slicks) . Mine is stock suspension - what do you think some suspension mods would do to lap time ?
