Excessive vibration

Excessive vibration
I am new to RX8s, so please bear with me if this had been answered thousands of times.
The search function failed for me for some reason.
Is it normal for 2005 RX8 (June 05 onwards) to have excessive cabin vibrations at times?
Sometimes my car would vibrate (quite excessively) at regular intervals, the gear stick would shake as well.
This is more prominent when the AC is on and the car is sitting stationary (i.e. traffic light)
I don't think it is the engine mounts as 2005 cars have the revised mounts on them.

Hey Andy,
I dont think the engine mount replacement under warranty was limited to the 03 and 04 models, so I dont see why your car shouldnt be checked also. The dealer should be able to tell whether the engine mounts are sagging etc and therefore causing the problems. Alot of us have had the engine mounts replaced - mine was 04 model and I didnt even report the problem but my dealer told me I needed to have them replaced.
Anyway I cant really answer your question.. I'm sure the gurus on here will reply in due time..
I thought you may want to read this thread we tried starting while back, could help you with knowing what is warranty issue etc:

mattdrift, we might be talking about the same problem.
The vibrations are not major, but enough to be annoying at times.
They come regularly, almost like driven by the fans in the engine bay.

I think so too Andy but I will know for sure in a few weeks when I take it for a service. They roll their eyes when they see me coming and scatter as I am a pedantic freak and I arrive with lists of things to check and special requests..

I am such a pedantic freak with my cars too.
Which is understandable if you are paying that much money for them.

A little vibration is normal. It comes on and off in waves..but it's not enough to be annoying. U'll notice ur gearstick vibrating a bit..and when its at its peak, ur side mirrors may vibrate very slightly too, but not often.
If ur engine mount is broken or sagging its much worse. The car will idle like a bus. The gearstick will look like it wants to jump out of its socket and the side mirrors will vibrate heaps.

Yea Andrew, Andy said that the 05 models had the revised mounts, but I was saying I thought the 05 models had the same issue as the 03 and 04 thats why i said i dont think the problem was limited to the 03 and 04. I actually did a search on the forum (dont know why as this isnt even my problem..) and saw a few 05's had their mounts replaced also, so they definately dont have different mounts to our models.
Seriously though, search functions take you a long way today. Took me 3 years to learn but I did! ;O

The revised mount has a rubber shoe and it is more resistant to the engine heat than the old one; but even so I don't think this engine mount will last forever.
If you tell me an 06 model having a failed engine mount, I will believe so.
It is worth resetting the ECU by putting the engine to the pre-ignition mode, then press the brake pedal repeatedly for over 20 times (you will see the oil pressure needle on the dash sweep to the right once). This may help the rough idling and the vibration may go..... worth a try.
