Perhaps, that is an interesting angle to take, but the voices in my head don't go flap flap flap.

No need for sarcasm. I'm just trying to understand the symptom you're describing.

Any kind of flapping noise sounds like a problem to me. However, it seems like diagnosis will be elusive unless you're prepared to take the punt on the cost of having the box pulled out and apart...

Let Mazda do it. And just hope its warranty.

Or even better, go get a new clutch and flywheel.

Fixed.

I put my car in for a service and logged the problem again, they said they'll look into it, as I told them the clutch was slipping a little bit and I mentioned a faint smell of burnt clutch, but it's obviously a common issue as the customer service guy said it was normal and it was most likely just the thrust bearing.

They're also replacing the sending unit for the fuel as well, as the fuel guage doesn't go past a quarter to empty now, and the car performs like a dog once I get to around 50L, feels like it's backfiring sometimes ... it's all supposed to be interrelated so it looks like they're going to fix it.

Also told them about the vibration at idle which has increased in the last week (probably slightly aggrovated by my current driving style due to my lack of tolerance of people holding me up!!!), so hopefully that will be fixed as well.

What else ...

... oh, the little door on my fuel filler broke off ... they said that it wasn't dire, so I said for them to leave it this time round ... or should I tell them to note it down for my next service?

On a different not, I got an MPS for as the courtesy car this time around, I didn't like it ... it's red, it's ugly, it's front wheel drive (sorry, it's still a fwd!) and I don't like the power curve ... going to take the CX7 for a spin next week with her next week, considering she's looking at getting a new car.

... I'll find out what mum thinks about it when I get back home this afternoon.

Cromax, I will warn you now, in city traffic the CX-7 is worse than the RX-8. My wife's car is averaging 15.7l/100km over 10000 and that includes probably 25% freeway. On a trip to Bendigo we got some phenomanly good mileage but apart from that, the city mileage is appaling.

That being said it was in getting its 10,000k service (I said hello to your car while I was there) and it has a new PCM update which apparantly addresses some issues with the "agressivness" of how the turbo kicks in so maybe the next few 1,000ks will be a bit better.

You were at Max Kirwin today?!

Eveything's been fixed, or is being fixed when parts come in. Car's way smoother ...they replaced all my spark plugs because they only changed them last service and apparently a trailing one was cracked ...

... parts are coming in for all the issues above except hte fuel door thing. Will see how we go!

I need to post up the service log ... they did a few things, including change my wiper blades which I was not happy about!

I was indeed. Your car was there and you were gone before I got there and I was gone before you picked your car up.

Why are you not happy about wiper blades being changed? for me the more frequent the better. In this very dry weather of ours with infrequent rain, I have found my wiper blades ar useless after 3 or 4 months.

I wouldnt delay on the fuel door btw. Get it done while its fresh in peoples minds.

Cheers

Andrew

Wiper blades? They didn't need changing!

Yeah, see, I find the opposite, I can last a set of wiper blades years ... those were at least 3 years old! Also, the amount they charge for normal trico blades is exorbitant ... a markup of over 100%!

It's got more work to be done, the parts are in transit. I'll tell them to fix it up then!

Clutch bearing noise is normal for our cars.

Fuel filler and engine mounts are getting replaced on the 14th of June ('cos I have to plan it around exams). Umm, apart from that everything else has been fixed!
