female's veiw on driving/living with an 8 (kalli's offical "welcome back" thread)....
thought'd i'd kill two birds with one stone (def. no pun intended here :D !!!)
1.
we have a resident female RX-8 owner/driver (MissRX8, aka Kalli), she loves her 8 to bits and the mod bug have finally got into her lately, so the modifications begines..... im sure she will be able to fill in all the details, since she will now be concerntrating on this forum 100% (welcome come back )
i'd like to know female 8 owners/drivers thoughts, review.......
2.
the missus's been back in town and i have been suffering some sickness, so she gets to drive the 8 most of the time (no compliants from her )......
she loves it, she loves the way it looks, the way it drives, the sitting position and the way it revs all the way to the redline and hearing the beep (she does that all the bloody time). after all, she was the one wanted to put the deposit down at the sydney motorshow for one... had to pull her away from the stealership salesman :D
she had more ppl wanting to "race" her in my cars all the time.... maybe it's just her :D :D :D now she is trying to get me to keep the 8, insteading of going back to the prestige market... well see anyway, to do that, she will have to bring her backside back to sydney fulltime
now its your turn kalli...... pls let us know what your thoughts/reviews are....

My mums been driving for 30yrs and shes always driven manual car :D
I let mum drive my 8 once. She was like ooo, and she loves the short shifter.
Yes every1, I have installed a short shifter wit the help of Gomez via telephone and 1 of my buddies. If I can do it - any1 can
I managed to take off all the console covers, but then had no idea wat a socket was Soon did i learn wat it was, and now am a proud owner of a socket set and other various tools hehehe
was so much fun pulling everything apart, and i was like when i could see the ground through my rx8. felt good though being able to do it without totally depending on a man

C'mon Kall, don't be shy. Share your views with us.
My wife is a bit gunshy of my car for two reasons:
1. The entry and exit into my garage is not for the faint-hearted. The approach takes some finesse and in order to get out of the car once it's in there I leave about a 3-4cm gap on the passenger side. Clearance front and rear is also very tight due to all the crap we've got at the back of the garage.
2. I've fussed over it so much she's **** scared something will happen to it while she's got it and I'll lose it with her.
Having said all that, she is a competent if not over confident manual driver (I taught her years ago) and isn't frightened to have some fun with it if I get it out of the garage and put it back in for her (she had a ball driving/scaring some girlfriends around on a girl's night out). Frankly, the fact that her wagon sits in the carport and is easier to get the kids in and out of means she rarely bothers to use my car. She refers to it as 'the other woman'. :D :D

What views would you like me to share?
Im a 22yr old girl thats always been obsessed with cars. I eventually finished uni where I now have fulltime professional work and was then able to afford a new car - and course something with class
So after a lot of window shopping and looking round for other cars, finally saw a red 8... hubba hubba reowwwwwww I fell in love.
Honestly knew jack all about the mechanics of rotaries b4 this car. I love the learning process of learning more about this car, and shocking the socks of the boyz with my knowledge
So, purchase of the car - my new hobby could officially start with accessorising.
All accessories to my car was installed/attached by yours truely, which inevitably may not sound like a lot, but I do know a fair few men who still ask their dealer to stick on things
whether or not i had the time vs someone who doesnt, we will not discuss this issue here :D
Im having fun learning more about the car and where I am able to do things myself or fish around for advice on my own I feel a lot more fulfillment when I drive my 8.

I meant that I had posted before you had added those comments and was conscious of the fact that you were probably still looking at the thread and wondering why I was seeking your views when you had just posted some.
Oh never mind... :D

As those from the last Qld cruise can verify, the Finance Director LOVES driving the car... She really got a buzz out of the twisty road in the last cruise and wanted to know when the next one was going to be held...

Good on you Kalli... glad to hear you installed the shifter yourself and are now the proud owner of a socket set. Just remember... you can never have enough tools.
xxup... I think the CFO drove faster than you

I'm 30, and was originally considering a subaru WRX Sti. I had been following the 8 since pre-production, but assumed it was going to be too expensive based on the original 7 pricing.
Once I drove one, though, I was sold. I chose the rotary, the sweet interior exterior, and optioned it up as opposed to the STi's AWD and 300 hp. I use the navigation any time I'm going somewhere I'm unfamiliar.
I sold Mazdas in the Mid-90s, and fell in love with the 7, but since we're considering children in the next 4-5 years, the 8 was a great way to have the sportscar but also have the ability to carry around potential rug-rats.
I'd say my favorite feature is the six speed. So smooth.
