female's veiw on driving/living with an 8 (kalli's offical "welcome back" thread)....

Invasion part 3......or is it 4???
Anyhoo, I'm also female, and was invited by Kalli (damn that girl gets around!) to post here. Prior to my 8, cars were something I drove. Period. Oh, yeah, and put gas and oil into, occasionally had belts changed, etc. But it was just a car. When it was time to buy a new one, I wanted something more fun. I test drove a 350-Z, an S2000, even considered going conservative with another Accord. Then I drove the 8. Oh, baby! Taking that first curving off-ramp, scaring the bejesus out of my salesguy on the freeway - I was SOLD! So far, my mods have been cosmetic and I've done them all my self (rotary accents, clear corners, custom strakes). Who knew I'd actually LIKE getting grease under my nails? Next mod up: RP short shifter, which I'll install myself, also. After that, maybe some carbon fiber pieces inside from the CorkSport guys. Anyway, I've always been a manual transmission gal, and I love the way the 8 handles. Ain't nothin' better than leaving those tailgaiting, oppressive SUVs in the dust when cornering. And the looks this car gets are GREAT. Everything from the "what kind of car is that?" to the furtive "I don't want to look like I'm checking your car out, but I am" glances from 17 year-old ricers. I can never help smiling broadly when driving my 8!

There's NO WAY I'm letting my wife near my 8 ever again! She's previously had Porsches and the one drive I did let her have she loved the shift on the 8 (even before the RP shifter) and went for quite a spirited drive. I now hide the keys, 'cos I know if she finds 'em I'll never see the car

Once I drove one, though, I was sold. I chose the rotary, the sweet interior exterior, and optioned it up as opposed to the STi's AWD and 300 hp. I use the navigation any time I'm going somewhere I'm unfamiliar.
I sold Mazdas in the Mid-90s, and fell in love with the 7, but since we're considering children in the next 4-5 years, the 8 was a great way to have the sportscar but also have the ability to carry around potential rug-rats.
I'd say my favorite feature is the six speed. So smooth.

:p Mate, for someone with a choccie biscuit as both a nick and an avatar, I reckon it's a bit late to worry about whether or not you're driving a girl's car. :p :D :D

Hey Kall.... this is Shari.... I'm soooooooooo all about my 8! I just installed Racing Beat A/C condensor and oil cooler screens this past weekend. It was pretty easy. My next project is exhaust and intake. :D I can't wait! My tool collection is growing by leaps and bounds these days.
I don't have a hubby or significant other, but my guy friends thinks it's freakin' awesome that a girl is into her car and working on it. It's pretty funny to watch their expressions. Recently, one of my guy friends told me that when he was listening to Tiffany (Dazygirl) and I talk about our cars at a party I had everything we said was over his head at 10,000 feet. Awesome!!!
Oh.... and I definitely don't wanna be a guy.... I get too much attention as a girl driving in/working on an 8.

Hahahah Hey Shari!
thats same wif my guy friends, 1 of them laughs everytime i talk about cars, he still cant get over it. My other mate just loves it cuz he compares it to his exgf that was always showing him tiles/bricks for her house and im always showing him car things and hes like "ThIs is so much better!" My other mate enjoys showing me new car things and lets me help him fix stuff (well I hold the torch for him! but i still learn...hehe).
Howz the car going now with the a/c condensor and oil cooler screens?
True that....... I think us being females in an 8 gets us more attention then a guy in an 8!
