Thumbs up Few mods going in(Dyno Chart Updated)

Hey all

Went to Promaz today to get a few bits and pieces installed

Basically im getting
-racing beat, CAI + Duct. (Upgrade from K&N pod inside stock intake)
-Agency Power Under driven Crank Pulley
- Microtec LT-10 Piggyback ecu + dyno tuned.

I dunno what to expect from it all.

So therefore i asked to take a pre mod dyno and after mod dyno for a comparison.

Once i get it all done i'll post the dynos here so people can get a basic idea, about power increases.

also getting in it a basic service aswell.

P.S (dont laugh at my kw)

Ok its all done

I tried to keep conditions as much as possible during the dynos so i get a fair comparison.

Before:
Mods:
Promaz ignition
magnaflow exhaust system
K&N drop in inside OEM airbox

After;
Same Mods
+
RB Intake + Duct
Agency Power Pulley
Microtek Lt-10 dyno tuned

roughly about 14rwkw increase.

The Dyno should explain itself
(its a bit rough cous simon ran outta ink for printer, however i'll get a better one towards end of week)

Anyhow afterwords

I had Decarbon, Yellowtop Battery, Service done.
Original Battery had one failed cell inside (both dyno ran on original battery)

hope this gives everyone a idea.

there has being a drop in lower end power however mid-top i can really feel it. More response also from top end, normal revving feels smoother, slight drop in sound system volume at a full stop, not really noticeable. R

other then that, its hard to say i've been driving a v8 5litre around... so yea cant really give a proper opinion (feels like a power drop lol)

Also note, this only had the first run, there was a few more kws squeezed out after more tuning, but the blue line didnt show (ran outta ink) so i'll need to get it

so since my dyno before this date, was 90.4

can i assume i am now OVER 100 rwkw? lol

*quote*
with all these mods you should crack the 100rwkw mark for sure

for comparison.

His dyno gets stock autos at 60 kw, and mauel at around 93 kw

Excellent.

Many people have trod down the same path without doing this, so hopefully you'll be able to confirm or deny the oft stated 'seat of the pants dyno' impressions with some hard data.

Thanks for sharing...

You're forgetting the louder induction sound - known to have a significant effect on 'seat of pants dyno' - "it's louder! It must be faster..."

well i just couldnt find the lack of support for other ecu tuning devices down here in melb. There is Cobb which really does appeal to me the fact you have to drive base map and wait for someone to send the tunes over (this is my everyday car) therefore i have some chills at the idea. Another is the ProTuner, which i cant really find anyone here either to do the tuning.

Lt-10 was provided by Promaz, so full support, and i am considering going their turbo kit. which means with the LT-10 the turbo kit would cut out the cost of the ecu.

Did you consider their Bosch coil kit? I had the upgrade done last week and the bum dyno reckons it's picked up a little more power but more importantly it feels smoother and revs more cleanly, especially in the mid range.

Wow, with all these mods you should crack the 100rwkw mark for sure..............(sorry, cheap shot at your auto).

I was wondering though, is it wise to up the power with the auto gearbox? Mazda reduced the power because the auto couldn't handle it, right? (what year model is your RX?)

cheap shot indeed.
Better then the US side of things, i prob would have being flamed and blown up for having an auto no matter my circumstances lol.
Its a 03 Auto, the gear box can easily hold the increase, (to be honest i dont expect alot) butter maybe not an turbo. From my knowledge the limiter was there to be *safe* and 9k revs is a big difference to 7.5k, and 9k being the limit, and sometimes the tran will lag for abit when tip-tronicing. My guess, was the 1.5k rev being the *safer* options then to push it to the limit.
Now that is my opinion in terms of reasons for lower rpms, of course it is partially informed from reading on forums, most likely there are a 100 other reasons and i need to go find a flame suit.
Anyways the gear box holding up, was from my mechanics, although the did suggest a gearbox strengthen for a turbo.

Anyhow, pre these mod i got a 90.4 rwkw from a dyno, however keep in mind my car was not prepared for it. (friend dragged me along last minute)
So oil was fairly black *7k kms driving* oil filter prob needed change, K&N airfilter has not being cleaned for about 40k kms.. (lazy i am)
And some sought of exhaust issue, (issue being left seems to run more rich then right?) wtf? getting that checked out atm.
Oh yea and a ton of clothes in boot, (last minute cleaning) lol.
So it was not really a day to see peak performance of car.
I dynoed it to about 7k.
Every ran it showed a drop around 5.5-6ish range, of about 4-5rwkw? then started to climb again.
Cant exactly remeber as Promaz has that dyno sheet. So getting that issue checked out.
Dunno if it was normal or not? maybe someone has some insight.
But yes, the before and after, would be from the same dyno, but different times. So hopefully i can provide some guidelines for true power increases in some hard facts.

However there could be a few assumptions made aswell, such as butt dyno, for things like response, which i will post up later.

Anyways tuesday it should be ready.

dam it's a low reading dyno. but the difference is what matters and how it feels.

and auto isn't a great starting point. you should think about forced induction.

Tofu,
You can't claim more than 100kw until you have written proof!

Jas' There is a mob in Preston that we all use as reference and in comparison Simons reads roughly 8 - 12 Kw lower. DAMN close mate.

I am hoping that with the new premises, Simon will get an RPM input for his Dyno

lol. Spare Engine is being machined, lightened, balanced and ported. Waiting on the ransom note from Mazda for the seal kit and the ceramic apex seals. Car is still going for the time being though

Spare huh? Got every confidence in your turbo conversion then?

Or are you just looking to maximise the power available?
