Hope you find this forum answers your questions and helps you meet others with the trademark Mazda grin!

Have fun and welcome once again
That was the first of many petrol stops! Actually, I got about 500ks to the tank which is more than I was expecting even for a highway drive. I remember barely being able to get 300ks in my series 1 RX7 (prob 350 highway) so I'm happy.

I know what you mean about that RX8 grin! The first time I test drove one, I got out of the car with the biggest grin on my face. I was hooked! From then on, I had to get one. I could only afford a second hand one so that's why I had to fly up to Sydney to pick up a 2004 titanium grey one. Very hard to find that colour unfortunately but that is the colour I wanted.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

Vangelis.

Just throwing ideas here..

Vangeli im hyjacking ur thread - but its for ur benefit, u get to show off ur car to us
Be my guest and hijack away! Unfortunately, I can't really respond to this forum from work so I have to wait to get home at which stage there have been heaps of posts that I want to respond to but c'est la vie.

A drive in the Dandenongs sounds good to me. I'll just tag along to whatever gets organised. I'm not taking a leading role here, more of a back seat driver's role.

Cheers,

Vangelaki (Only my mother calls me that! - you know how to hit below the belt.)

Hey sorry Vangelis... another thread dissolves into trivia... congrats on the car BTW...
Fantastic! I thought I was going to be the oldest here at the ripe old age of 43. Maybe we should form an RX8 Ulysses Club!

Vangelis, dont worry about the track days. We have as many non track events as track events. And if you can make the day you dont have to go out on the track. But if you do, this particular event and a number of the future ones (well the ones I organise) will have instructors present.

Cheers

Mmmm... Instructors you say? Sounds interesting...

Do we have to have fire extinguishers installed in the cars and helmets, gloves, etc? Probably need a crappy set of tyres because I don't want to wreck my new ones. Anyway, let's not get ahead of ourselves, I think I need to talk to you more about this.

Cheers,

Vangelis

The track day I go to first are very safe. And there will be 10x more expensive cars there. Like F430, Carrera turbo, DB9s, Maserati etc.

Most track days you only need a helmet and long sleeves/pants.

The keener guys get semi-slicks, etc but plenty of us have done track days on street tyres. The car is pretty easy on tyres actually, unless you're deliberately trying to smoke the rears or pushing extremely hard.

Have a go with instructors present. It's safe and a lot of fun.

Just leave DSC on until you get some more experience.
