Talking Fitted Hymees Protector Kit

Finally got time to fit hymees grill protectors (condenser and oil protector)

The operation took aproximately one and a halve hours , hymees instructions are great , however in section 9 of the fitment process i removed an additional 2 screws either side of the central top edge, this helped in getting the bumper to come away.

Placed bumper on large sheet to avoid scrathes etc

With the headlight washers if you have them either drain water prior to disconnecting hose or make sure you have a pan or bucket for your washer fluid( water ) to run into otherwise you will leave large pool of water.

I took it slowly and gently , remembering were everything belonged , so i would not have any hiccups doing it in reverse , reassembling bumper .

HYMEE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB IN WORKING OUT ANCHORAGE POINTS AND FITMENT OF THE PROTECTORS I HAVE NO HESSATATION IN USING HIS PRODUCT .

HYMEE take a bow.

Thanks L&L!

Thanks for the info on those 2 screw - are they the tiny plastic ones?

**** - I won't be able to sleep now. It will take a few hours for my head to shrink enough to get out the door. Hehehe.

I'm very glad you fitted it up OK!

Cheers,
Hymee.

Yeah there are two tiny winny plastic screws either side of center latch , removing those made it possible to take the bumper off .

As i adviced timbo the design and elaborate instructions make it preety much idiot proof , but after reading about the guys who left their wiper blades up and then opened the bonnet on top of their wipers ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Once again thanks hymee.

timbo and I both fitted our kits today, both sucessfully, and yes, both on the right end of the cars

Mine was slightly more complicated than timbo's as mine was a leather pack with the xenon and foggies... but still managed to get them both done in 2.5 hours. timbo got some pics of the experience and we'll put some up shortly. Also have some useful feedback on the already very good instructions.

Should point out, it was also a good opportunity to remove that awful front number plate holder! I ended up mounting my slimline plate directly to the black grill/grid and I think it looks a lot better... pics soon

I look forward to getting the feedback on the instructions, and seeing some pictures posted!

BTW - Does anyone I have sent the instructions to have some web hosting space, or an FTP server? One of the buyers (my10ae) is having problems reading the word doc from the CD I sent him. If we could temporarily host the file for him to pull I would be most appreciative. I didn't bring a copy with me on my laptop. Please PM me if any of you can help out.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee,
I have a server that we could use to host some files... We could even put some of the photo's for the installation on the site.. whatever you have on the CD. Might let some people have a look at your protector details before they decide to get one
I have PM'd you with some details.

Have a good one!

Thanks Dude.

I can host the file myself, but I am in the US at the moment, and I didn't bring a spare CD with me, so I cant upload the file. So I was trying to get a way for one of the existing owners to put the file in a place for my10ae to get a good copy from. For some reason he got a dud CD.

I have been thinking about hosting the file for all to see what is involved in installing as well. And that could be the delivery format for the instructions as well....

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee,
Yes, I finally fitted your kit and it all went well and looks great :-) And with the stone hits on my number plate protector and a chip on the aluminium bonnet in the last week on the F3, I know that it WILL save the radiator and oil cooler in the future!

I had an initial problem with a CRC error from the CD on my M$Win laptop, but it read perfectly on my Sun UltraSPARC Solaris workstation with Staroffice 7 :-P So all is well!

A great product and service, I wish you well for the future with it.

Cheers,

Tony.

Thanks Tonym!

I'll have to check how I burned the CD - my10ae had a similar problem. I'll probably end up just hosting the file, and allow people to download.

And they can check it out before they buy if I do that.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee,

now you're back from the USA, will you be opening the Bar and Grill for business agian soon? I've developed "look-and-check-itis" and I'm sure my neighbours are wondering what the hell I've lost under the car.. I keep peering under the front wondering how long it's going to be before something I hit as I cruise into "short finals" approaching my daily landing ( arrival at home )..

How much cold beer is the going rate for an install btw? * grin *

I finally got home from my interstate trip today and installed my Hymee grill kit. I guess I'm the last of the first 8 to do it. Great work by Hymee. Instructions were excellent and it was all done in 2 hours. You can't even notice it's there, which is a pity really, because it looks so good that I almost wish it WAS a bit more noticable!

After seeing all the little stone chips in the condensor that I've picked up in 6500km of driving, I have to say that this mod is a must for the longevity of the condensor and oil cooler.

Two thumbs up.

I been a "g-riller" for a while. (wife reckons a long while!)

Damn good kit. While fitting mine I found a long bolt in the under tray that obviously got picked up on the the road, lucky the damn thing did'nt total the condenser!

I feel so "protected" now!

NOW for the exhaust!

LOL... :D

I will get the Hymee grill once I have an extra oil cooler put in -
I am looking at the HKS oil cooler now (they are better than MS, apparently, I read somewhere HKS is 15 lines but MS is only 10 lines - or soemthing like that)

At present, I am really hoping something puncture the oil cooler or better, the radiator; then I will have a VERY GOOD EXCUSE to upgrade it; and my missus will not complain

If you pay for my airfare, I'll come around and put a 9 iron in it for you.
I need a holiday anyway.

Would like to say that I am joining this illustrious club of grill kit self installers.

But I can't. Must admit I am a slack bastard. Some people say i'm just a bastard.

The kit has been sitting in the garage for 2-3 months now and it looks at me strangely every time i park the car. Hymee even apologised to me for having to wait for it because he didn't have any available when I ordered. (You can retract your apology now)

1.5 hours to fit? Manual labour? Remove and refit? You have got to be kidding. Just like mowing the lawn, I have been putting it off. Knowing me, i would probably forget some screws and end up losing the bumper down the freeway.

The 8 goes to my beater on Monday to fix the scratches on the guard and the door, so guess who will be able to put his "hymee enhanced" sticker on his car at the end of next week?

Hey! We can't all be good with tools! (No smart-**** comments pls)
