Flat Changing Gears
Guys i wanted to know what you guys change your gears when taking some1 off the mark to?
Mechanic friend of mine said rotary's get their real power high up and he said 8 1/2 - 9 grand 1st gear also again with 2nd both flat changin (flat stick).
Just wanted to hear your opinions on what is most suitable for increased speed off the mark. Because i have known for people to "over rev" which in turn looses a bit of speed of the mark.
thanks

You could try bouncing it off the cut-off before dumping the clutch to get a good launch. But you need to have good traction and not get wheel spin or else she wont hook-up any good.
"Flat stick" that is a funny term. I suppose you are talking about changing "flat" which is reference to keeping the accelerator flat to the floor while the gear is changed.
You could also ask JudgeITO about how many new trannies he had fitted.
Ageo - don't forget this is a public forum - you never know how is watching. I'm just reflecting on a recent post of yours where you said you were 20 and one insurance mob refused to provide cover... Did you wonder why they possibly took that stand, and thought it might have been a bit unfair?
Just be responsible mate - both for your sake, and for others on the road. The fractions of a second you are talking about saving are really only going to make a difference on the drag strip. And that is only if you get it all together - a perfect launch, and 2 or 3 perfect gear changes. That is where you should be practising.
Cheers,
Hymee.
(PS - Sorry if I sounded like an old kill joy. Just trying to give the benefit of my "older" years of experience. Not trying to stop your fun. Just go out to the track to have your fun.)

I appreciate your concern Hymee as i am not going to do anything stupid because i need my license and myself for the business i run and others around me.
I wont be all that hectic and lose trannies, just seeing what some of you guys do to have a better take off. That is to the speed limit then i bak off (i need my license).
Hymee later on in the year i will definately be hitting the track on a regular base.
