Formation of a National RX8 club

ANNOUNCEMENT !!

WE'RE STARTING A NATIONAL AND STATE LEVEL RX8 CAR CLUB !!

guys, I've found it very frustrating that although there are some very well managed clubs for rotaries or specific cars like the MX5 [ aka Miata in USA marketing speak ], I've really failed to found an RX8 club either for Federal level [ Australia ] or State level [ NSW or any other state frankly ].

I will admit that frankly I've never, in my 36 years of life, been one for clubs, but of late I've wanted to meet more RX8 owners and drivers and trade info, experiences, and the like, and outside of this forum, and to date having met one of you in person [ 'lo kev ] and having two friends [ taknaka for one ] who also own RX8's, I've seen more RX8's on the street than I've met drivers or owners!

So, I'm looking for expressions of interest here an now, to have a meeting to form an official RX8 club that will both form the foundation of a national RX8 club, with local chapters to be formed from the national structure, so that we have one country wide club, with local chapters run in their own right supporting local members fully.

I'm looking for both the national roles as well as the state roles, as I have some names I'd like to see step up the mark [ pun intended hymee ], but running a club isn't something to take on lightly so if you're into it, please make sure you're willing to invest the time and effort to see it through - but then again nothing tried, nothing gained so don't be afraid to try and fail, be afraid of not trying at all ok.

I'm planning to incorporate an official national association, I'll fund the initial setup but I'm going to ask new members to ante up a basic share to cover the running costs and from any funds we do raise, we'll prepare a web site, news letter, the relevant legal and financial supporting infrastructure etc. and seek support from not just Mazda AU and JP, but from other vendors of RX8 kit, parts etc. without becoming beholden to any third part et al.

If you're wondering about the roles etc, let me know and I'll email you the PDF that outlines what I'm about to undertake.

I'm really hoping that you guys will get behind what this hopefully will do for us, because I really want to see it succeed and be atleast as successful as our dear cousins in the MX5 club(s) from whom I'll certainly be seeking advice and support if possible.

I'm going to open up this thread for discussion and such on the topic - and I'd like all and any interested parties to post here with support, thoughts and ideas etc, and I'm thinking that we should set a time to be here online to post nominations for the roles and such.

We only need 5 members before I can formally lodge the application to form an incorporated association etc.

I'll gladly cover the setup costs, and then just get the founding members to buy into it for whatever the fair share is.

Then we'll get all the usual membership **** sorted out and it should flow from there!

I have this dream of a national drive in next year with hundreds of you mad bastards driving in and trading stories, lies, and drive maps!

I'm thinking that we can get a **** load of companies to ante up with stuff for members such as color coded keys for example * grin *

Dez,

I have been offered support for such a club (i.e money to pay insurance, venue for meets/technical presentation etc) from the DP of a Mazda dealer. I just hope there is a critical mass (whatever that is)

Cheers,
Hymee
