Greetings from a new owner....
Hi everyone - a short intro to let you know that I have recently purchased an '04 RX-8 and am now a full blown (?) member of this website. There is a lot of good info on the Forum & I have spent the last few days going through the millions of posts - its like reading War & Peace again!
I also own a very early build 1989 Mazda MX5 & I've been a regular contributor to the Australian MX5 & the US MiataNet sites for a few years now, but recently purchased an ex demo Velocity red RX-8 here on the Sunshine Coast.
The car had been languishing in the (ex) local Mazda dealership since it was registered in Dec '05, but then the dealership sold its Mazda franchise to another (read bigger) organisation, so the few demonstrators thy had left have been sold off as required - my car being the last of the demo's to go. Its only got 1,700 km on the clock but has been serviced every 6 months and is still under warranty untill next December. Its a 6 speed with leather & the sunroof option.
Anyway, I'm going through the maintenance regime myself (after owning quite a few Alfa's, motorcycles & classic cars over the years I'm reasonably confident with spanner twirling) though this is my first rotary. The RX-8 engine reminds me more of a motorcycle engine than a car engine, but I can live with that....
Hoping to be an active conspiritor on the forum, and will probably ask a few silly questions as I become more familiar with the car.
Steve.

Welcome Steve. You're spot on mate, theres a mine of information here and we are a strong community. Keep your eye out for the odd cruise, and of course the Nats.
What colour did you end up getting...manual/auto or any mods?????

Thanks for the welcome everyone - I will keep in touch.
And the Nats are not far from the Sunshine coast.....
enforcer - its a manual (don't like slush boxes), Velocity red, with the red/black leather & sunroof option - but no mods as yet. Off the top of my head, an aftermarket cat back system looks interesting and I have always believed that a good suspension package can make or break a car. I have fitted Ohlins shocks to my MX5 and the difference over stock was significant, especially with a good wheel alignment. But thats for the future, as I'm still feeling my way around at the moment, though I replaced the brake and clutch fluid today with DOT 4 fluid. The brakes where pretty easy but the clutch bleed nipple is a mongrel to get to - underneath the oil filter!!!
Ah well, I won't have to do it again for another year thank heaven...

Recommend you try sways first before replacing shocks and springs. Reasonably inexpensive means of improving handling and a popular first mod.
