Be very careful about boasting speeds on public roads!
Now I'm sure it was the same bit of private road as Wildcard, but about 110 from memory.
Yeah - 170 is about it at Queensland Raceway Still - fast enough to start getting scary into turn 1.
Cheers,
Hymee.
Edit: Willowbank = 94 MPH :p

I reckon this thread is a bit dangerous. This is a public forum. There are relatively few 8's in Australia, and it is potentially easy to identify individual cars by tracking back through threads. Apart from that, it potentially labels all 8 owners as law-breaking speeders, and targets us for attention. Not happy, Jan!

Then I realised I could just as easily gone down to the newsagent and bought Wheels/Motor/etc and they have a table of this performance info.
And I realised it was even easier to go to www.carpoint.com and get the same sort of info.
I also realised, that whilst not all of us live in the Northern Territory, it is not impossible that we legally drove such high speeds on their "no-limit" public roads.
I fixed up the abbreviations for the units that some used. Incorrect abbreviations make me mad.
I have no problems with people posting alleged speeds at a place where it is legal to travel those speeds. But you need some proof to win. :p
If you want to boast about a speed you did on a public road, please ensure it is only accompanied by a scan of the complete speed camera ticket, as well as proof of payment, followed by a complete and sincere written statement of remorse.
Cheers,
Hymee.

Agreed... Die thread die...
If they want to know how fast it goes just hand them a specification sheet for the RX-8... If their sheet is better then yours they have the faster car.. Move on.. We are too old for this stuff....

Oh Hymee! Just when I was about to make my first post in months you pull the plug. And all I was going to mention was the Bucketts Way (Newcastle to Armidale) and that section you so enjoyed between Nowendoc and Walcha. Here my car frequently runs out of puff before road - must be the crummy farm fuel in it.
I can only presume Motor was using the same mix when they road-tested the 8.
jack.

Hymee you need to hurry up and finish tha supercharger, if you have time to go through this thread and change the speeds to 110km/h then you could have been in the workshop instead. :D
