I already had decided to do the 1500 swim for Noosa and started swimming training before my sleep aponea diagnosis. It seems to make sense what you suggest, but my lung capacity and breathing function is quite OK. It was just when I was asleep, the palete relaxes and colapses and blocks the airways. But getting fitter should help as well.
If anyone dared to deliberatley annoy my swim, they would have gone down. :D
