I love this car.

Alright I am still a new owner, so sue me.

Got new shoes for her yesterday drove it out on the M1 for a while to wear the wax off them.
Today decided to take her for a spin up to SpringBrook. for those of you not from the Gold Coast it is a very twisting turning, hair pin turns all the way road. Used to hate that road in my old car, now I drive it for fun. I may just go do it again this afternoon

Amazing what this car does for you.

Some I have never heard of before. Corsa tires from BobJanes Tmart.
Can't even find anything on the web about them have no idea who makes em or if the are crap or what.

The ones on the car with I bought where OEMs with 34k on them and had some cupping on the inside edge. Tire noise was so bad the radio had to be on 14 to even hear it.

I asked them for some inexpensive tires with decent grip and low road noise.
They said they were imports from the US with a 400 wear rating and W speed rating tread looked decent enough so I bought them 235/40/18. $700 all up fitted.

Will get a better set later after the wife gets over me buying the car to start with.

But so far they grip both wet and dry on these seem to be pretty good and I can set the radio at 4 and still hear it.

After I save a few pennies for a track tire I will take her out some weekend and drive her around the track for a big grin.

Enjoy it but get use to the feeling!

I've had mine over two years and the feeling is still there.

Corsa tyres originate from South America, and have a relatively soft compound. The disadvantage of having a hard compound tyre over a soft one is generally more road noise and less grip.

It will be interesting to see what sort of miles you get out of them....and at $700 fitted I would seriously consider giving them a go...

I've had mine since August and still can't get the smile off my face - it's great around corners, but even just potting around town, there's just something about it - the seating position, the sound, I dunno... it's just perfect.

I am curious to see what kind of wear I get out of them myself. I am hoping since I do not push it that hard that they will get some decent wear.

My 5 year old loves this car more than me. He named it Blue Beauty and every day has to give it a hug. I have to follow him around with a polish cloth to wipe the finger prints, but its a small price to pay for something he seems to love so much.

Guess what I still love this car.

It is just plain fun to drive.

Does anyone else find themselves looking back and smiling at it every time they park it and walk away?

For me it's the best thing about going to work everyday....the drive to and from home in the 8.

Cheers,
Danny

I've had mine since Sept 2003 and still love the thing - such an awesome drive - with my previous cars, I'd get bored after 4 years, but not the 8. And yes, I often look back at the 8 once parked and still think she's so damn beautiful.

During Schoolies, the Springbrook drive was the best drive I've ever had other than my local Weekend Thrash drive on West Head Rd in Sydney. And the drive back to Surfers was also fun

There's always a sense of occasion, that's for sure.

I had a fun blast into work this morning.

Can't but agree with all the comments. Was parking this morning and saw reflection of the 8 in, of all things, a black Barina! Somehow made the Barina look good

I take that road - Murwillumbah -Nerang if I go to Brisbane in peak hour.
The only problem is some idiot Queenslander put an 80kmh speed limit all the way from the border to Nerang.

I did follow a bike that had an off the last corner before the border gate. He passed me through the village and I had to hang back not to catch him once we started to climb.

Roads like that are why I bought the 8.
If I still lived in Sydney I would probably buy a Corolla or a Lancer - easier on the speedhumps.

I have this thing on my home-work commute. I rate my drive - how was my shifting, traffic anticipation, smoothness, etc., and mark myself out of 10. I've never got over 8 yet, but it's fun trying.

You kill me Labby.

Maybe you should rig an in-car camera in the event of a dispute with the scorer...
