Idles, but no throttle response.... HELP!!!

Hi Guys,
Wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.

Just came back from being overseas for 4 weeks, and went to start her up. All good except for the fact that I have absolutely no throttle response whatsoever.
I have a CEL, and DSC light that won't go off. Everything else looks normal.

A bit of history..
1. About a year ago I had had a faulty coil which caused her to misfire badly, since then, I keep hearing metal bits rattling in the muffler and or exhaust pipe every now and then.

2. I did replace my coils and plugs at that time and she's been running OK.

3. I also installed a HKS Twin Power thingy at the same time.. not sure if it did anything, other than make me think I was burning fuel more completely.

4. Prior to my coil/s failing, I did experience occasional random stalling, even at speeds of 60+kms _ not sure if this was a sign or just a red herring

Any thoughts on what could be causing this??

TIA

Cheers,
LJ

Whats the CEL? The rattling sounds like the substrate in the CAT has dropped.

hmm.. yes, I don't know as I don't own any tools that can talk to the ECU.. eg scanalyser etc..

I was hoping some of the gurus around here could sort of point me in the right direction before I star buying things or pulling things apart.

cheers

Code readers are the '8s best friend!

Hard to tell without you pulling that code, I would reset the ECU, disconnect the battery for a while, it's probably screwed up from a long period of low voltage.

Buy a reader that can access the CANBus protocol - very cheap.

Ok.. thanks for this. I did do all this prior to your reply, but thought I should give it another go. Only this time I let her idle until she reached operating temp, then I noticed I was getting some throttle response back. Not much, only able to rev to about 2000rpm with about a 1+ sec lag. This led to me believe that the mechanical side of the engine was ok and it was the ECU that was playing silly buggers.
So this is what I decided to do.
1. Pull the Batt and let her sit. - about 3mins. also had foot on brake for this period
2. Reconnected the batt
3. Did the NVRAM reset - ie pump brake a zillion times just after flicking the key
4. Calibrate DSC - turn wheel full left then full right.
And viola!! actually the CEL went off at step 3.. and TCS wen off after a quick spin around the block

Not 100% sure if she's 100%, but took her for a drive and she felt OK.... well as good as she was before I left her.

Oh well.. I'm glad i got it sorted out and thanks for the ideas guys.. much appreciated.. She's a temperamental, jealous one eh??

Cheers
LJ

Thanks Rev... No unfortunately I can't. This is turning out to be a fairly big year for me bot work and personal. Plus I've just taken 4 weeks leave to travel around Europe, so funding is a little tight too..

I hear you brother. I'm going to Italy in June and have already had to tell my travel agent a few times I want to stay in the hotel, not buy the bloody thing!
