baby seat
congrat on the baby,
i recently become a father to my first child, a boy
i bought a mother's choice brand in red to match the velocity red colour, pretty easy to install . u probably need to get use to the suicide doors when putting the baby in and taking it out
plus a pram to fit in the boot if u take out the spare wheel
this form of transportation was fine for 2 months until i decided to lowed the car and installed the sway bars.
she wasn't happy about it until i got her a crv last week,
now i can do what to the rx8 - now trying to work out what the next mod

Congratulations on the new baby! The RX-8 ability to easily handle a Baby seat was the reason I didn’t get a 350z. Just a couple notes about a car seat.
Place a towel / old T-Shirt under the seat spills will happen.
Take off their shoes, it’s fun kicking daddy’s seat.
Don’t keep anything in the rear console, kids get board and like to explore the rear cup holder and console.

Like expo1 said, protect the seat. Not just from crumbs - if you tightly secure the baby-seat it will deform or even tear the surface of the car's seat. I actually brought two brand-new, extra-thick black bath towels to completely protect the seat.
I have the toddler-seat style in the car for my two-year-old now.
I recommend the passenger side so it easier for you to take a quick peek over your shoulder while sitting in the driver's seat. It's also better to stand on the curb (instead of in traffic!!) while putting the baby in and out.
BTW, congrats on the baby. Babies have been the best three things that ever happened to me.

Or you can just do what saner people do and buy a station wagon...
Seriously, although it can be done in the 8, you'll find the smaller the baby the more gear you end up carting about . And no towel will save your upholstery from projectile vomits.
Given the second hand car market these days you can pick up a 5 year old wagon for a pretty good price.
For when he/she is older, a booster seat fits well and can be easily removed.
Congrats BTW. And remember, it is 10 times harder than you think it will be BUT a 100 times better.

We survived in a 1995 Mazda 121 with a new baby (arrived in 1999) and the 8 is much bigger than a 121 inside (and outside too)..
Congratulations on your baby - all the best with the big day... You now have two reasons for the silly grin; a great car and a baby!

Little Ms Taka sits in my RX-8 since her first day out of the hospital.... The brand escapes me (Augler???) but I brought it from Baby Target. Some are made better quality and better to have a rug to cover the rough point to your leather Kas
I also have a thread to the pram. I have the McLaren Brand that fits perfectly, with space left for minor groceries.

Hehe congrats... we are also expecting our first in July. I have no intention of putting a baby seat anywhere near the 8, hence why the wife has a magna sedan. Far more practical to go in your car, dear!

I bought a safe n sound meridian. The salesman insisted that you need a seat with AHR - active head rests, as the car has curtain air bags. This is rubbish, I called the manufacturer and got the real answer, but people will tell you anything. The problem with reversable seats is that it requires more space in the reversed position. The meridian i bought fits but the seat has to go forward a lot, almost right to the front. Well you don't want to scratch the seat back. I noticed too that the seats are angled inwards so the baby seat does so too, not very good. I will probrably only use it in the forward facing position in the rx8 as i have a 323 runabout. I think you only use it in the reversed position for 3-5months.
