e5cape....
how old are you, and is the 8 under your name?
sounds like a pretty good insurance deal to me if you are a young person (ie. early 20 to mid-20-ish), well done mate.

this is horrific. i wish I study a part of commerce at uni. Actuary(sp?)

e... yes i was talking about parts and some repairer use cheap paint to cut cost coz AAMI not paying enough. My Integra has colour mismatch at the rear bumper and guess what ... the repairer itself damaged the bumper backing out his driveway.

correct, but cheap paint = **** quality/finish.

AAMI offers lifetime repair guarranty, and each repairer have to give 3 years warranty for their work, so within that 3 years, the car can go back to the same repairer to get the defect fixed at no cost to AAMI/car owner.

depends taka..... all depends on how old the paint is (whether it has been looked after etc), and how good the painter is to mix the colour. generally white isnt a bad colour to match.

the worst colour is SILVER, most of the time, its best to respray the whole side just to get a good finish.....

black is easy like your black... not my black?

EDIT: Hey EZZY say if I want to paint the rear bumper with the plastic underneath bit into shiny grey. Would that be difficult?

thats quite easy. i'd suggest to remove the rear bar..... mask up the "red" part with good tapes (we usually use 3M tapes), clean the "black" part, plastic prim the black part, and mix the colour of your choice and go hard. you can either leave in a matt finish or clear it with clear to make it shiny.
shouldnt be more than $200 for a proper job.

Would you able to paint the plastic part to like the painted black part. I just don't like the lumpy bits. Painted plastic look will look very cheap. If you can bring it to same shiny as the other parts, then it would be great.

I will talk to my paint guy. Once I have my CF vent sorted out.

EDIT: What is the paint code for Ti grey? Do you think it is a good grey for the rear plastic bit?

i'd prefer keeping it black, or just match it to the body black (shinny).... so it looks "cleaner". the Ti grey will look out of place on a black 8. :D

I think you are right... I am very impressed with the MazdaSpeed diffuser's 2 tone colour though. Do you think I can make that effect? Just tell me if it is a stupid idea.

Coz I am thinking what the shiny grey look like at the mesh area.... :o

nah, either get a proper MS rear diffuser or colour code the rear-lower bumper .... thats what i'd do anyway.

what does MA rear diffuser look like in 2-tone colour anyway :o

I rang 4 or 5 insurers to get quotes last week. i'm 28 so i thought i was less of a risk now i'm getting older, never had an at fault claim. Results were surpising to say the least.

1) GIO: $3,800
2) AAMI: $3,300
3) Shannons: Said they wouldn't insure me as they only specialise in antique cars... what the !!
4) NRMA: $2,300 (in part due to the multi policy discount)

I think i had a phone rep that didn't know what he was on about. Anyone else had that line from them?

Shannons will only insure you if they consider you low risk, and will spin you a line to get you off the phone if they don't think you are. I almost got a quote to insure my RX-8 until I said it was under hire purchase then they weren't interested (spun me a line about it being really expensive, but wouldn't give me a price).

Well most insurence companys are the same they take ages to get anything done.. When its a sports car even worse. 3 months is actually not a bad time to get paid out. I know the legal issue are no good.

I will save myself 1000 dollars if i switch to JustCar insurence from my NRMA that im paying @ 3700 almost a year. Im currently 24. Living in the other middle easy Arncliffe.

Shannons would not insure me..

CMac , those are ridiculous amount for a 28 y.o. Do you mind telling us what rating you are.

When I first purchased this car, I was 29, just a year older and was with AAMI at life time rating 1. I only paid $1350.

Ring again... insurance co's are stupid. If you have premium that $1300 when you are 29 and $3000 when you are 28 than it is just a stupid world... keep ringing the same company before one give way.

EDIT: When I called GIO, the first quote was $1200 with monthly payment system... Then I complain about AAMI was cheaper, I better ring other co, then they switch to their supervisor and get me $1012 and insure all my mods - not able to reduce the excess (company policy for the RX-8 or 350Z).

Sco, that sounds svery familar... i mentioned the car was under hire purchase as well.. mmmmmm.. how does that make a difference, they will just try to flog you gap cover.

Taka,
I have a lifetime rating one with NRMA. Living in annandale, next to leichhardt which i believe has one of the highest car theft rates in sydney.

I might even call the NRMA back being cheeky and say i have a quote for $2,000 to see what they say.. can always do it online after to get that price.

The excess is only 4-$600 which also makes a difference.
