Introduction and a question about Sydney Mazda Dealers

Greetings,

My first post on this board so I thought I'd put it in the Aussie section seeing as that's where I live.

Been reading a lot on here because I finally am in a position to purchase an 8 :D and the regulars seem to be very knowledgable. And yes I know all about the Oil, and petrol etc... so...

So, I have in fact 2 questions (tricked you with the subject, sorry )

1. A good sydney mazda dealer. My closest one is Eurocars in Artarmon, however I've heard mostly negative things about their sales people. Can any locals tell me about where they got their 8's and their experiences?

2. Damn, can't remember. Had to rush out and fix something! maybe next post!
oh wait, yes i remember, is the www.rx8club.com.au a linked sister site to this one? Or shall I register there too and um.... "double post"?

Anyhoo, Cheers and when i get my 8 we'll meet up. mmm and i will have to hit on Hymee for some products for cash.

DO NOT go to Artarmon, they are a bunch of f&%kwits to put it nicely. I originally went there had a test drive and was given a price. I knew they were being ********* with their price but i thought OK i'll leave it at that. I then spoke to a guy at Hornsby Mazda and he undercut their price by about 6 grand straight away.

Ring Hornsby Mazda and ask for Greg. He's a nice bloke and an honest saleman.

The only problem with Hornsby is that their sales manager is a bit of a ****** but apart from his attitude and person skills i haven't had any real dramas with him yet.

The .com.au site is not connected with this site. This site is run by the guys that started the RX-7.com site years back. The Aussie site is owned by Choppy, who is Sydney based and posts here every now and then.

ditto with idolo.
do not goto Artarmon... their price sux and service appalling.

my closest dealer was Tom Kerrs in West Ryde who were okay but didn't give good price..
I ended up buying from Hornsby too.. although I didn't get much of a *special price*
my salesman was guy called Christian who is alright..
seems like I'm repeating what idolo said, but I think their service department shux..

He he he im just a parts guy !! but on many occasions I have been called out to the show room to talk to customers about these wonderful machines!!!

Regards Daz

ps maybe I should start selling these things.......im very honest but id have trouble closing the deal....with 12years experience with Mazda parts especially Rotary powered, my regular customers would be lost.

Try Dave Allan at Brookvale Mazda, 0413221594 or 99376710. I went as far as Penrith looking initially for used 8's with 10-15K on them and Brookvale offered a better deal on a new base...better than Artarmon, Penrith or Tom Kerr's Mazda at Ryde. This was in Sept last year. Bargain hard and save your cash on the after sale pitch for interior, rust and paint treatment ! Cheers

DAZ-13B is really a regular Clark Kent behind that counter. Mark my words though, as soon as the words "RX" or "Rotary" spill from some ones mouth, his supersonic hearing detects it & in an instant is there to rescue the situation from shame or take over from a floundering sales rep.

This walking, talking encyclopedia can shoot down bullshit at 20 paces. Correct errors before they are spoken & leap tall buildings in a single bound.

If you want a dealership to get your RX-8 from, make sure you include Gosford Mazda on your list of places to visit.

my personal experience.......

got my 8 from Rockdale mazda, bunch of friendly ppl, incl. the service centre, very professional (can be annoying sometime.... :D im just a easy type of guy).

Mcgrath @ liverpool is pretty good, pretty professional, but VERY pushy

AMR, okay to deal with, but the dealship just doesnt feel "right"

Hornsby, didnt bother, had no brand spanking new 8 when i wanted, the saleman over the phone sounded like a jerk

Tom Kerr, ditto, better salesman.

John Newell, ditto.

end personal experience......

ANYWAY..... im sure nojooc will be just as good, if not better, so support the fellow forum member, go and see him (okay, when can i book in for a free quick check and oil top up :D ... hang on, maybe i just need to concentrate to get the 8 on the road first :D :D :D )

i'd never buy anything from blacktown mazda, they are a bunch of *%#$&^&s, had no business sense, very unprofessional, cheap looking dealership, especially the trade in/wholesale guy.....

hi guys,

Got my car from Rockdale mazda also.. Service department is A++++ love it.

<edit> Dont go to the Mazda Dealer in Alexandria - I walked into the dealership with shorts and a shirt and the sales person told me I dont believe I can afford this car so to stop wasting his time.

If you are a registered member of www.rx8club.com.au we have a deal with Rockdale Mazda service deparment to offer you 5% discount. Just mention the forum and user name.

My company owns the domain name and we are obviously hosting the site (through our vast array of web servers) though its a public forum so I consider it more of a service to the RX8 and its lovers in Australia.

A good number of people from the com.au forum are not present in this forum. Hymee is a global moderator, though being a friendly bunch never find the need to edit posts. A few other faces around here including Taka moderate the Vic forums etc.

6000 hits a day and a nice ranking in google is helping us heaps

sorry about the off topic.

Kind regards
Phillip

Cool, thanks guys!

Now once i've convinced the wife of the benifits of owning an 8 as opposed to someting more "sensible" I'll drop by most of the suggested dealers (will send a pm nojooc first). Gosford seems a little far but hey who knows? I may want to soften up the missus a bit and spend some time up there at a nice resort and sorta "accedently" find the dealership there.

I think i'll also introduce myself on the .com.au site too!

Hint: If you are married with no children yet. Please do not tell her that you can easily fit a baby seat in the rear left, she sitting comfortably in the rear right and have a nice stroller fit perfectly in the boot. I gave her that wrong idea when I got my 8. :o

If you have <2 4+ year old, then the car is perfect. It is perfect for young family of 4.

Hope you quest is successful and become a regular here too

Heh. I told her it's a "sports car" and that being a sports car it only has room for PERSONS. I am hoping she will start off underwhelmed then warm to the 8 when she sees it first-hand... "Hey! there IS a boot and 4 seats...."

So saying that, she is buying herself a Boxter... Once she learns how to drive (I dragged her here from Canada where she used to live).

Save your cash from those overpriced, underperforming cash-cows as well.

The only one I would definately recommend would be a full tint, and the dealer ones you normally get a lifetime warranty.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I almost agree with the comments above...

I rather like the guys at Artarmon Eurocars service center.. way better than the service guys in Hornsby. In fact I've only serviced my car once in Hornsby and the service guys had such an attitude that I've never gone back.. (well i id go back for some magic mazda rotary oil.. but was peeved off with the service I got for that too.)
On the other hand I actually purchased my 8 from Hornsby, but I may have gotten special treatment as I got it as a fleet thingy.. So I didn't have to actually have to deal with the regular sales guys, but delt with one of the fleet sales guys from Mitsubishi. (Bob, really nice guy)

West End Mazda are a bunch of arrogant ****** (sales team) I initially went there to scope out the 8, but had so much trouble getting any attention to start with and when I did get service, the bastards treated me like I was some snotty 16yo who was only there to waste their time... needles to say I've never gone back.

just my two cents worth..

Same here. The service/PD dept is pathetic. The service advisers do try but they have some neanderthal at the back who doesn't give jacks*** about the customer's cars.
