iPod touch controls your RX-8

I am sure it is a repost in this forum.

But I want to meet this dude as he is a Victorian... well he has a car Vic plated.

[EMBED]<object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xqZj4ArrlhA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xqZj4ArrlhA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="360"></embed></object>[/EMBED]

He is going to switch off the engine stone cold... you know what can happen. Anyway, it is a cool application; but it is likely to be in "not my cup of tea" category. However, in my 135i???? hmmm.

Did you get the comfort start option on 135i Taka and have you got the car yet? Are you bringing your 8 to the nats this year?

The car is in the ship docking at South Africa. ETA 20th April. Rediculous waiting time I know.

Yes I have comfort access. I love it in my 4WD so much that I will have it at any cost.

I will bring my 8 up for sure. Not doing much to the car at this stage. I don't even think I have time and money to strip it and put a cage in it. But will change front brake rotors, all brakes, all oils and strip a car at least a little before August. The house and all the associated thing is costing a lot, but the 8 will be a track only car yes.

I have put all of my track money this year to the Dutton rally... I will have a different experience because I am not driving my 8 but WAY's 135i.

Cool, sounds good. That reminds me. I am doing a track day tomorrow and speaking of stripping a car, is it easy to pull the back seats out of the RX8?

It is easy to take the back seat out. Just pull the clips holding the cushion where you sit. Then take the 2 bolts holding the back rest. Unclip the seat beat from the shoulder of back rest and yike it up to release the rest from the clip on the top part of back rest. Keep the white plastic insert in place and don't lose them.

And if your lap times still don't improve, spend that time learning how to drive faster...

How heavy are the seats?

Why aren't you stripping everything out of the car if you're just using it for track?

I'm sure the door trims weigh a lot!

Those seats are so light unless it is track only car I don't think it will help much.
I just had mine out and all 4 of pieces together couldn't weigh more than 3 or so kgs' max.
What would that give you maybe 1hp at most?

In the mean time back on topic.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys but this IPod app thing was an april fools joke. Somebody else on here was disappointed that he didn't trick anyone. Well the Aussies fell for it. Think about the logistics involved in such a system. Pure B.S

Why not, if this is not posted on April 1, will you believe it?

did you see this?

[EMBED]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8fIMJgNTwdU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8fIMJgNTwdU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/EMBED]

Remote can do anything.

Sound like you don't believe remote starting in the first place. Remote car start (without internet connection) has been around more than 15 years. This just add internet connection to it.

It can certainly be done... whether he has done it to that car I cannot tell. But I am sure if he did he would have removed the immobiliser.
