K & N Typhoon Air Filter

Has anyone fitted one of the K & N Typhoon air filters? Looks like it doesn't utilize the std air intake that feeds the std air box with cool air. K & N claim an increase of 9.5 - 10.0 bhp.

I used to have a Rotary Extreme intake. Very similar. Got rid of it because it was too loud on top of my Hymee exhaust.

Don't believe a 10hp gain. The stock intake is very good. Don't expect more than 5hp out of an intake regardless of what the manufacturer says. Ditto for an aftermarket exhaust. These mods are more about appearance and sound.

A lot of the US forum members with K&N Typhoons have complained about poor idling and engine response......... beware.

Good one Taka! The blue line is stock, the red line is with the Typhoon.

It's like the Da Vinci code - the truth was staring at us the whole time - we just couldn't see it. :D

I had idling problems when first started the car up with K&N installed. Didn't seem to bother me in anyway.

As for petrol, I used to get bad mileage, but now I'm getting 475kms on a full tank. That's occasional thrashing/mainly city driving. 12-13L/100km with my fully sick K&N intake.

Seems like the performance is not consistant, just like the 8's where some get better fuel consumption or nor stalling/starting problems whereas some others get the lot. Hey.... this car's got CHARACTER :D

I'll prob get the strut brace and sway bars first - after testing the standard OEM setup on the track so I'll know what improvements the mods make.

Thanks for all the advice and feedback guys.
