Killed the Rattle!!
As Revolver could attest i have been living with an annoying front end rattle for a while now.
Last "technical" advice was it was a shock on the way out. (Having tested all the suspension!) LOL!!
So dropped the car off at Mazda Hornsby today and their diagnosis was it's the sway bar! Bollocks, had already checked the mounts and while I'm going to do a Kate and (re bush) they look serviceable!
So back to the drawing board......sway bar end links......had ordered a set from Whiteline and hadn't fitted. The OEM's had been pointed out as worn and seemed like a good plan.
Nothing to loose, pulled the offside front off and fitted the new adjustable jobby and after a little swearing (Old one very hard to remove) it fitted up very nicely!
Quick spin later the noise is gone.
Let me tell you this morning it sounded like the front end of the car was falling off! Pretty much sorted now! The OEM wasn't even visibly loose and nuts were as tight as possible.
One wonders if the OEM end links are up to the punishment of after market sways. They certainly are not as robust as the Whiteline ones.

Good to hear you have fixed your problem.
Can you elaborate on what the problem sounded like? Was it a rattle or a squeak? When did you notice it most?
I have more of a squeak or rubbing sound particularly when travelling over speed humps. I to have white line sways with OEM end links. I have been thinking more the springs of my coil overs rubbing but will investigate the end links.
Cheers

Glad to hear it Mikey.
Drew, yeah but I'm pretty much convinced it's coming from the rear rather than the front. I had the suspension checked before the Nats and everything was deemed sound. I had Crookie try to locate it too and they allegedly spent some time checking for it and found nothing.
Mine's not bad and it's not there all the time - just over bad ruts and bumps. It's like a cross between a creak and a thump - very hard to explain.
I might go the end link route though, because my combination of M/S shocks and springs and Whiteline sways is a reasonably stiff set up and I wouldn't mind betting the OEM end links are copping it on our lovely Sydney roads when my right foot gets heavy.
Mike, where did you source your end links from?

you could also try the Agency Power endlinks which I have on mine.
I got mine off good old eBay but also try:
http://www.agency-power.com/catalog/...roducts_id/157
Fronts: $175
Rears: $140
with the way the aussie dollar is going they would be around AU$350ish inc postage i daresay

Dave mine are whitelines and i bought them online LOL!!!
Craig, was a major rattle, not a squeak. Sounded like someone with a ball hammer readjusting the front end!
Got progressively worse since the Nats.
My suspension guy thought they looked worn, but "couldn't possibly be" the source of the noise! Doh!!

Yes but where the GB invitation??!! Hmmm??!! ;-)
BTW, I had previously been led to believe that replacement end links were for the fronts only (I think Taka told me that one ), otherwise I would have looked into this myself a lot earlier when trying to diagnose and cure my particular rattle.
