Leather options in Australia

Does anyone know if the tan and black leather option you see in lots of US write ups is available in Australia?

I think you can special order them but it will cost money, take forever, and most won't do it. When you find one that can do it, ask them about a white RX-8 too

if u wanna get two toned interior on some european sedans... trust me, they ain't cheap.
i must agree with L&L, tan/black is rather fugly.. i reckon they shoulda have made it brighter like orange rather than tan...

Okay Pagey, you've rattled my cage.....Lets look at what you get for the six grand or so you pay to get the leather pack. I take it you haven't bought your Winning Blue car yet, so there is hope I may save your soul.

First off, good idea , get the WB.......it is the best colour, no-one here thinks otherwise.

Leather Pack: naff alloy pedals......crappy leather on parts of the seats that will deteriorate quickly in the Oz sun 'cos no-one takes the time each week to look after them......Bose system that many who have it hate (Do a search, some of these guys prefer the base system!)......Fog lights, stone magnets, and bloody annoying on any car.......and the only thing that is actually worth getting.....Xenon headlights, which unfortunately come with the ADR required pop-up headlight washers. These things are ugly as.....they destroy the look of the front of the car....some guys put the Mazdaspeed front bumper on just to get rid of them.

All this AND a 17kg weight penalty.....worth every cent.

That six grand could buy you a turbo upgrade (nearly!), Hymee's stainless system and grille kit (with 5 G's left over), a shmick wheel upgrade, a Mazdaspeed kit.....a diamond ring for the missus (this is the best of the aforementioned.......actually, spend five on it and buy Hymee's stuff!)

There you have it, the gospel according to Gomez.......Go in peace, Brother :D

Gomez.

I agree with you 100% the winning blue RX8 does not warrant the extra $6000.00 spent on it to give it some class , if you have bad taste you might as well stick to the poverty pack in winning blue J/k :p

cheers

I'm definately getting the winning blue.

I have been having the same thoughts so well articulated by Gomez, about the value of the Lether Pack. My thoughts are:

1. Standard WB RX8
2. Hymee exhaust
3. after market Leather (some tone of cream/black ????)
4. Mazda factory spoiler kit, strakes & F/R rotory symbols.
5. Hymee grill
6. Mabey after market wheels (suggestions)

What do you think.

What do I think? Skip the spoiler kit, screw the dealer to the wall on the strakes and crests (ie: freebies), and if you really want leather....well, the aftermarket route will at least get you the colour you want. Live with the cloth for a month though, you may change your mind....especially as the warmer weather approaches.......

Gomez is, as usual, correct (or nearly -- he's just wrong on the colour -- it's a proven fact that Velocity Red pov packs are the performance leaders :D )

And I must agree with EMACK on the two tone leather interior. Remember a few years ago when "cool" cars had white alloy wheels -- and how naff these look now. My friends, that's exactly what will happen to the two tone interior and it will be reflected in resale values.

Like all of us with an 8, my car gets lots of admiring looks and comments. Never once have I heard anyone say "oh dear, but the interior isn't leather" or even worse "oh dear, the interior isn't two tone leather".

My advice: keep it simple, stupid :o
