![Question](https://www.rx8club.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Hi all,
Being one of those rare (and lucky) guys that gets unlimited free petrol, I thought I'd take a drive up to Sydney instead of flying!![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I just wanted to know if anyone who has done the trip can tell me approx. how km's they got to a tank of fuel & how many tanks of fuel they went through. (Just trying to plan my stops)
Also can anyone tell where some fixed speed cameras are along the way? - I'm taking the Hume Hwy.
Thanx & regards
Rik

As Lock said about ecomony. Anyway do 110kmh all the way without using much to speed up and down. Use the key rather than your foot to accelerate and slow down.
In terms of speed camera, I know there are some set ones in NSW, but they have big *** signs and road marking - unless you are sleeping - you will not miss.
In VIC, there is no fix camera, but you have to beware of 2 things. Beware of around big towns, esp 10km around them.
Seymour,
Benella,
Wangaratta,
and
Wodonga.
I was told (when I was working for **** Base Hospital) by a nurse who is marrying a highway petrol cop. And they only operate in those big towns and they are lazy to travel more than 10-20 minutes from the town. Hence, beware around those towns.
Between those you can speed a little.
But between Benalla and Wangaratta there is an average speed check. Therefore, if it is foggy, or windy ... then there will be no check.
Better not to speed at all.... I would say
. My friends lost their licenses when they raved their BMW over 160kmh on the Hume, and it is a common curse for doctors doing their term at Wangaratta Base Hospital.

The set cameras in NSW are hilarious, from the perspective of being a Victorian. They have 3-4 signs before each one saying there is a camera coming up. Its amazing they still manage to ping people with them.

Hope you have a good trip up Rick.
As previously said for the fixed cameras in NSW and watch out around the larger towns as well for mobile patrols.

December '03, when our car was six weeks old, managed 9.5/100km, Walcha northern NSW to Sorrento Mornington Peninsula, 1420 km, 4up and straight thru' the night.
I was proud of that figure: then again I got almost 50k from the original tyres, which included a day at Wakefield, so all I am really illustrating is that I am getting old!

We did Melb-Sydney 2-up last Christmas - less than 10L/100km so did well over 500km before refuelling. We only did one fuel stop, of course. Cruise control at 110km, air on auto all the way, loaded with camping gear too.
Yellow slips through the air best, of course.
In the UK, all speed cameras are fixed and signed (like in NSW) - but there are lots of them, so they really do control traffic speed, as they are supposed to do. Much better than the cynical, revenue-raising stealth cameras in Victoria. If the govt was really serious about reducing speeding-related accidents this way, they'd follow the UK model.
Everyone sticks to the speed limits there on most roads (except the motorways, which have few cameras, and the average speed is at least 10mph above the limit!). Obviously the motorways are safer roads, statistically, so controlling speeds is less important there.

Hey if you are the driver of the petrol car, what will you do all day sitting in the car? It will be the most boring job???
Well I will insist to have TV and DVD in my petrol car... although I hate to think what will the public and the politicians think of that :p.

I was interested to see that the accused in that case is a financial planner.
Now would you take his advice as to what to do with your most important asset?? :p :D :D
Let's all hope he meets a bunny boiler.

Yeah well ,before I hooked up with my Strato I took a test drive in a Sunlight Silver and didnt call it in the morning.
Actually believe it or not I didnt actually take a test drive, I just like to brag like I have been around the block a few more times than I actually have.
