lol I can gurantee u that the people who end up buying the new 1 wil the say the old 1 sucks and the ppl with the old 1 will say the new 1 isnt all that. most of us are just biast... At the end of the day yes it is the same car and I rekon they need an excuse to bump the price back up to what the rx8 cost 3 yrs ago. base cheapo model will end up being the 50 something grand, then the top model will be what most of us paid (and i think those with the limited eds paid more) and they dont even get bose? what more does the top model have that we didnt?
mx5geek is right tho, majority of us have modified our cars so who cares what comes stock in the new 1 which we may or may have not got in our cars... we got rid of it anyway? lol like the new suspension is supposd tobe better? i bet u if any of us got that car we may have still ended up changin the suspension.

Thanks for the update Michael....I'll stick my head in for a sticky beak anyhow.
BTW I stayed at the Sheraton on Sunday night and we had a ball. We were going to Burleigh to see some more Djembe, but decided against it as the chances of sorting out some of the local riff raff in the park were far too high.
Besides, we had a much better time at the Fishermans Tavern watching the Bikini girl competition......
Wow, dosen't that place go off for a Sunday night...!

Everytime i go out to Fishermans wharf with friends i end up needing 3 days to recover too much grog and visual stimulation
With double demerit points on the long weekend , i refused to drive anywhere , with one point left till October i wasnt prepared to risk it

We had a great dinner right opposite, and our table was in full view of the catwalk and the band which was playing some great music.
On this occassion however she made sure she kept an her eye out for the latest fashion (or lack of it!) and on me...!
I had to chuckle when she pointed out some of the body 'mods'....although I didn't mind them

Back on topic....
The dealer principal for Grand Prix Mazda Brisbane rung today asking why I wanted a test drive of the new 40th edition. I gave him the usual reply...interested to see and feel the difference.
Then came the clanger....."...Hold onto your money Trev because next year they're bringing our the bigger engine with over 300hp..."
When I asked him to clarify he said he was reading from the newly issued Mazda bulletin.

If it was the dealer principal that said it I would believe it cause they are the ones that deal direct with the factory and get all the scoops first.
I am thinking of driving up to BrisVegas on the weekend to the show and looking around anyone else from the coast going up?

Going to the show but not on the weekend too crowed being semi retired i can go anytime during the week
The dealer principal must be on drugs , the version 2 RX8 wont be putting out 300HP unless they Supercharge / Turbo it or Hymee has done a deal to supply Mazda and the 16X Rotary that could produce those figures wont be out if it ever gets produced till 2012 .
Cheers

After Joes call, I'm going to drop the acid right on the Mazda Car show rep regarding next year. I can't help thinking theres something over and above what we've already seen in the V2 is coming about.
Call it intuition, call it what you like, its a hunch.BTW Micahel its safe to say the Principal not on drugs...he's as straight as they come.

The bulletin exists because he was reading it out aloud to me over the phone. I've also managed to fine tune my arrival at the Motor show on Saturday....around 4.00pm.
If anyone wants to meet up for a drink (coffee) you'll see me in a white collared shirt....and doing my own style of 'persuation' with the Mazda rep.
Michael, if you're planning on coming up from the GC remember theres the 'real' Lock n' Load in West End... http://www.locknloadbistro.com.au/ ...but I think the tastes of Fortitude Valley are more up your alley...

I'm happy to buy something different but there's currently nothing in the market that comes any closer to my needs with the same mix of performance, handling, looks, price and practicality.
These are all subjective decisions. I was just hoping for the cosmetic changes to the new model to be an improvement or at the very least not a backward step.
Anyway, it's all talk talk talk atm. Seeing one in the metal and driving it might change my mind. We'll see.
