Nice shirt. I'm jealous.

They celebrated 115 years last week.

Cheers,

A thread in "The Lounge" about cutting cheese reminded me of this post from back in my "early PDA adopter days":

Took my rx8 to Byron bay on a day out , nice drive good views and walks up to the lighthouse, thinking of organizing another GOLDCOAST HINTERLAND PICNIC DRIVE DAY , any punters???

Local yobbos were keen on checking the rx8 out i even had a group of art students doing a pencil skecth of my car , the local boys in blue also stopped and had a close look at my ride , i suggested that they may get one of these as their undercover tourist car , he he he .

Had a nice lunch by the sea and though of you guys working your butts of while your rides are gathering dust .

The ladies in byron are a real mixture from overseas ducth tourists to loud americans to local ferals .

My ride seems to have really improved since i found the G spot exhaust seems louder and car is definetely getting more responsive , the petrol consumption seems to be slightly better .

cheers

Hey Michael, I don't know...the view here at work isn't so bad. I work for a fairly new company, most of the 4000 staff are under 30yo and female, and of those, most are in tight uniforms that necessitate the elimination of a panty line.......get my drift!

And the company selected them 'cos they're friendly, outgoing and lovely. You can have the ferals in Byron!!!

Kind regards from Go "seventh heaven" mez.

I said most were under 30, truth be told the average age would be closer to 24.....you'd be in trouble around here, (and so would they!!!)

In answer to your question......I can close in, but not close out. Morticia would not approve!!!

500 posts... Yippee!

Well with my 500th post, I figured it was time for a bit of reflection. I went back through my posts and it was almost like reliving that initial excitement again.

I reminisced about my initial first sighting of an RX-8 on Coronation Drive (and a simultaneous "what's that" in the car) through to researching the car, making my purchase, picking the car up, fitting my own custom grille (with some hints and tips from Hymee), babying through the break in then the excitement of my first redline. Things plateaued out for a while.. and now this G flash has added a bit of interest again.... fuel economy looks like it is improved (and just in time for the price rise).. and she's a different car under 5000RPM.

And after 500 posts, I'm still just as happy with this car as when I bought it. I've only got to get back in the RX-8 after driving my Laser and I get a reminder about how great this car is. (Not that my Laser is a bad car... it's just not the RX-8).

I was worried that as the number of owners grew that the Australian forum would get a bit out of hand... but it's still just as cosy and friendly here as when I first got involved.

So Hymee's Bar is on me for a round... have one on me, fellow Lounge Lizards.

Cheers

What luck ?????

One of my neighbours owns a white toyota camry , and i have noticed he constantly cleans it obssessibly for hours 2to 3 times per week , well he was walking his dog and said hello as i was washing my car .

He has offered to clean my car for free , he loves cars and seems to have obsessive compulsive disorder.

The only draw back is that he says he needs 2-to 3 hours to clean car in and out .

cheers

Not sure where to post this, but your lounge seems appropriate...

Anyway, I will be coming over to Sydney and Melbourne for a 2-week holiday on Tuesday!

So don't be surprised to see someone in a Camry (in Sydney) and MX-5 (in Melbourne) giving you 8 owners the thumbs up! :D

Any tips about this hook turn that I've been warned about for Melbourne? Thks.

All you need to know, Fab8...

"Driving in Victoria is a pleasant experience but you should observe some rules, which you may not have come across before. The most striking of these is the Hook turn. This turn is used within the CBD grid of Melbourne to allow trams to continue through an intersection whilst allowing drivers to queue to make a right hand turn. Intersections where these turns are required are indicated with a sign hung above the intersection.

The idea is to pull over to the left hand side of the road indicating that you are making a right hand turn and move as far up the intersection as is practical. When the light changes to green in the direction you want to turn, you then proceed to turn right.

A word of caution - please wait until all of the traffic behind you has finished moving through the intersection before turning right.

When you encounter a tram in the suburbs of Melbourne it will behave just like a car with the exception of tram stops. If a tram stops you must stop behind it to allow alighting passengers on and off the tram. Failure to stop will result in hefty fines and your registration possibly being reported by the Tram driver."

Look for this sign....Regards, Gomez.
