Yeah... We are headed south soon and don't want any smoke clogging up my air cleaner... Get this fire business sorted out people... Bulldoze those trees and save the houses and people... Get all of the bulldozers and concrete trucks off construction sites in NSW and VIC... A great big 2km wide concrete circle ought to stop that pesky fire... Did we ever buy those water bombers??? We have C-17s now - lets fill them with water (Don't bother coming to Queensland - we don't have any left!) and start bombing the hell outta this fire... Jump to it people!!!!!

Anyhow.....Adelaide's the only place you can have an 8 and still be unique..... well nearly.......

I'm not fixated on the fires and don't like going out in the heat, I'm a winter lover....I feel for the people who are witnessing fires destroying their hopes and dreams and their livliehoods. Anyone who has seen bushfires first hand knows the sheer terror of them. Seen one and that;s enough for me.

MX6 what is that???
Not sure if I'm going to be able to go to Phillip Island next weekend, but it would be interesting to meet me I'm sure!

I know what you mean about RX8's being rare over there. When I drove to Adelaide with the RX8 a little while back, people were oggling it like it was a Ferrari ... was a bit bizarre. People don't tend to do that over here unless you drive something rare and exotic.

A Mazda MX6 looks like this:

You seem to me to be an interesting character.....

Hope you can make it to PI.

Yes I like to think that Adelaidians know class when they see it!

Talking Merry Christmas To You All

Hey rather than spending a fortune on cards....LOL

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Drive safe and look forward to another fun filled year on the forum. My life was so dull before I found the 8 and this place!

Hey there all.

After deliberations on the way home we drove a 300C diesel wagon today....am not driving the Alfa long distance again. The 300C was really nice I was surprised! So planning to keep the 8 and maybe buy one of deese in a year......better way to travel!

BTW Hi Tim Tam long time no see?

In the wagon version people sure do get out of the way!!

Even Bruce thought they were quite nice which is saying something..I think it has something to do with their Mercedes heritage!

Those 300C things are nice enough, but I wouldn't buy one ... I just don't like them because they're just too ... americanish and plasticky and overpriced and ... ok, I'll stop there.

Not taking into account that what you're looking at is a diesel, my question is: why buy an american chrysler when you can get something better that's made locally? Yank tanks aren't made very well at all!

Ford and Holden have both improved their build standards of late, and Toyota's come out with that new Aurion, which I must say looks quite like a cheap Lexus for poor people (funnily enough, it is basically just that!).

Yeah yeah I know. But I WANT A DIESEL that can tow, that looks half reasonable and that will be ok to drive every day. Have you taken one for a spin? If not go and see them. I have to agree I was a skeptic of this car until today and I was pleasantly surprised. I also don't think they are overpriced. If I bought an 80 series Landcruiser I would be up for more! I have had 4 Aussie muscle cars and they don't tickle my fancy I'm afraid. They are not well built IMHO and they don't have the identity that the 300C has. All this being said I am looking at buying in the next 18 months or so and so re-sale will have a lot to say about whether I purchase or not. I don't want the yummy mummy look so will settle for the Yank tank anyday!!! I don't like the Aurion , they spent more money on the ad than the car......

Actually - Lexus is an overpriced Toyota.. But there is no doubt that their customer service and intimacy is second to almost none...
