Well, I'm presuming the power output of the 12A in that RX7 would be something like half as much as the RX8 ...
... does that still make it ok?

I'm sorry - not being a tech head I can't remember the brand, etc but we've got one of these things. Awesome - it holds 200hrs of TV and we just record everything we like and watch it when it suits us. I don't think I've watched a 'live' program in about a year. Really frees up your time without having to miss a fave show. And of course you can watch a DVD while it's recording or start watching a recorded program before it's finished recording. Goodbye VHS hassles. Highly recommended, best toy since the 8 for mine.

As to the recent debate in here, I agree with Gomez. I've been as bad a ***** as anyone in times gone by and although you might think you're being hugely amusing at the time, I can see how it can grate on others who want to talk about things of more substance. No point getting defensive about it - as I've said before, if you wanna *****, be prepared for others to get the irrits with you...

I think that's pretty right too Kall.

Bit of friction from time to time is just par for the course I think.

Make sure you get one that can to VOB files, have a HD set top box build in.

Otherwise you have to buy another set top box to get HD quality.

Personally I will wait until you can do full HD first.

I've been really busy lately and so haven't posted much. There is certainly a bit of antsy on here at the moment. Maybe cause it's winter. Just my thought but really what use is being abnoxious and name calling on a public forum? Seems pretty futile to me. Aren't we here to talk about the car, the problems the fixes and the fun. Not character assasinate, be rude and objectionable and pick fights?? I don't know it;s all getting a bit ho hum really.

Gomex the RX7 looks really nice. The photo of the 8 and the 7 together show how much the design has changed over the years!

There's an LG with HDTV built in and HDD, but no DVD recorder
I don't understand why they can't put everything together

Yeah, they have HDMI output and component output, and other lower quality outputs.

but that means, if I want to burn it to DVD, I have to have another DVD recorder

With reference to the Dc5r thread that has been locked (!!!???), to be honest I thought both Drew and my comments were obviously tongue in cheek.

Both the original poster and Taka somewhat overreacted IMHO. There was no need to delete it or lock it.

I personally couldn't give a crap if someone wants to place an ad for a rival car in here. The lack of response until Drew posted his riposte spoke volumes and was funny in itself.

In future, please let these things run a little until such time as there is actually something to act on. There's precious little going on in here as it is...

Ok I will let it run a little if you like.

Post whoring is an issue in this place and I am very irritated by that.

That is what this thread is intended for. It has been set up for a long time for Off Topic (non RX-8 related) comments and ****.

It is so off topic sometimes that this thread is threatened because people talking RX-8 in here.

but I think there is a place to **** off... and this is it.

For people who are new and have limited time to read, shitting off on someone else's thread is very irritating. People will stop reading after 3 or 4 off topic post.

For example, who is reading Drew new part's post anymore....?

It is not just an odd comment or 2. It is the fact that people starting bring another topic in the same thread.

Some people who has been here logn time committed the same thing. Who cares about your new houses in a "I have got a new car thread"?

Thanks Taka.

Please treat my comments as constructive, rather than negative.

I accept that whoring can get a bit much in here at times and it needs to be moderated but the odd "foreign object" (e.g. an ad for another car) can lead to interesting car-related discussions at times (remember me stirring the pot in the past with references to various RX8 replacements?).

That's all I was getting at.

No, I'm happy to cop the post ***** tag because in the past I've been as bad as anyone. However, I try to be positive and topic focused these days.

Kall is smart enough to fight her own battles, so I won't comment on the other matters you have raised.

Just a figure of speech Kall. I'm not looking to start or prolong any arguments in here at all.

As I indicate to the moderators.

Post whoring is only whoring when you rate the post is very poor. So if a post of non related comment made in good quality humour is not quite post whoring.

So post whoring is very hard to define, and very subjective.

Ooooh this thread came to life!

On the subject of post whoring though, derailing threads with information that really doesn't help the case of a poor guy trying to sell his car would be considered post whoring ...

... I kinda feel sorry for Skyline

What a load of crap. Here are the facts. That for sale thread was over two months old before I posted in it (and therefore going nowhere). Skyline's RX-8 won't sell while he sticks to his $40K figure.

What people like Timbo and I (guys who have successfully sold an RX-8) have done in that thread is point out the cold hard truth. We've offered information on the current market and tips on how to sell his car. How is that post whoring?

Your four posts have added nothing (you have increased your postcount, however!).

You are the one whoring in that thread (as usual).

I would add that this is a discussion forum - not a classifieds. Posts discussing resale values, etc, while maybe not wanted by the original poster, were on topic and relevant to the wider membership.

If he wanted to avoid people telling him he was asking too much, he should have advertised the car in more conventional outlets.
