Manual 6 speed .( SSP) re-call
Recieved letter this morning from MAZDA Australia advicing me of a Special service program (ssp)ON selected 6 speed manual rx8s to replace the transmission dynamic damper heat insulator .
Apparently the heat insulator cover may over time become loose and dislodge.
The heat insulator shields the rubber dynamic damper from the exhaust system s radiant heat and thus ensures its longevity.
Only certain VIN numbers are affected , so if you havent recieved a letter dont be concerned .
No charges are to be applied to this SSPby your mazda dealer.
cheers

I'm 100052 and am booked in for this Friday.
There was also a second recall in the US around the same time as this (early Feb) relating to air bags (see North America airbag recall notice ) -- I wonder if that is also going to apply to us? I will ask on Friday

From my reading of the letter, it is not worded as a "recall", but as good as one.
You won't see me posting my VIN here, but it in the range, and "younger" than L&L's and AMG's buy "1/2", and about 170 before the last affected.
Nice work Choppy - getting the exact range!
Cheers,
Hymee.

Got mine Monday, called City Mazda yesterday to book it in to only have to inform the supposed "RX8 Technician" of the recall. He had no idea what I was talking about....

I'm booked in, but Grand Prix Mazda said it was only to see whether it needs changing. Apparently, not all cars within the VIN range will require the change, as they may have been fitted with the modified part during assembly. If a change over is required, this will be done at a separate time.
