I'd have the AM Vantage over the 911 I guess. It's only a poofteenth shy of the 911 in most depts from what I've read and heard - nothing I'd notice I'm sure and I lurve the looks.

They come in a sweet Yellow

Hardtop and Softtop

Buying one of these second hand seems a good option saving big $$$$$$

Not a fan of the yellow or the soft top - sorry.

As for secondhand - something tells me they'll hold their value better than many $200K plus cars. Don't know why, just my impression.

Guess its a supply demand thing , in Europe supply has increased but demand has somewhat slowed .

Friend of mine just picked up a CLS 55 AMG he expects the value to be $120,00 in 3 years time a 50% drop .

The demand for a manual seconhand AM could be in the same ball park , i hope .

Not sure about white car with red strips and red wheels mate.

There is one in the Porsche dealership here. I think.

Its done, the Lotus Exige Cup 240 is ordered.

I've bought the last "new" one in Australia. They made 50 world wide, 7 of them wound up in Australia. I should take delivery later this month, its getting the roll cage fitted and the final finishing touches made.

My RX8 only has 17,000kms on it, if I can get a decent price I'll pass it on otherwise I'll keep it as my daily driver.

I found out last week that baby number 2 is on the way. I figured I better order the Lotus because at the rate of reproduction I might not be able to afford one in the future!!

Who's next for the lotus?

Deano.

Deano, you're a star! I reckon you should be featured in a beer ad. (Where's Brewer?) In these days of metrosexuality, that unambiguous piece of unreconstructed male behaviour is to be celebrated

Congratulations Deano. I'm very jealous of the car that is..the baby thing...meh not me.

I would love to have your lotus if you ever get bored with it. My cousin in the UK has one and he's mad about it. Drive the 8 as a daily I do and it's fantastic...more fun than driving some soft roader.....and so much more satisfying when you get the little beep to come on and you've already hit 60kph!!!! Having a lot of fun with the car at the moment!!

MMM nice choice deano...

(yes I'm back for a cameo again!- hi Gomez!)

we're at a similar point in the next 6 months... 18 kKm old RX-8, need to/want to replace it with something else...

Now I have a 4x4 (turbo diesel Navara- balances the RX-8s fuel economy nicely.... 8.8 l/100 km around town for the Nav.. 14-16 for the '8), we don't really need 4 seats all the time anymore... options open up..... :D

Thought about an Elise 111R - decided that it'd fall apart too quickly- and the smoke may come out of the electrics too often...

Current thinking is :

MX-5 roadster coupe- and throw money at investments instead-sensible but we'd still have to deal with mazda stealerships and they are woeful... Tom Kerr is as bad as Crookvale...

Boxster S- we nearly bought one s/h off a mate a couple of months back but couldn't get our ***** together quick enough..... it sold for more than we were prepared to pay anyway in the end..

Cayman S- Boxster with a roof- love the styling in the flesh... probably more practical than the Boxster... and a bit more exxy to boot..

but we thought always end up going- "but it's not a 911" ... ...

Audi RS4- my g/f has always wanted one- from the time the 2.7 TT ones came out... ... i think she's just about sold- must see if we can find time for a test drive.. The coffee table book they send you when you enquire is gorgeous... ... we somehow got 2.. .but I won't complain... :D

whoever said they'd like an AM V8 vantage over a 911- don't!! The smart word is only buy an Aston if you can afford your own tow truck drive to follow you hither and thither... ... they are almost guaranteed to leave you stranded once a week...

still we wish we'd kept out Pug Gti-6... ( hi again Gomez!)

You may well be right about that Rowdy but I'm still besotted by the looks.

...and all beautiful women are spoilt and tempremental.

You wouldn't have a thing about Pommy cars would you?

There are a few cars I'd consider. I agree with RRS and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage ... but I'd probably take the new Jaguar XK over that (I could oggle that car for days). I wouldn't buy a Porsche because of the social cliche attached to them, however I do think they look ok.

But at this age, with my current income ... the RX8 is actually pretty lavish.

And just think, the 4x4 V6 version will be even heavier, dearer and more nose heavy.

Yet again, Alfa makes something that is good to look at but everyone except Alfisti will walk straight on by.
Catching up on some reading today and saw a review of the AWD Brera.

Gawd! Who'd buy this thing?

Heavier (try 1630kgs - what a fat **** ), slower (0-100 in 7.0 secs), $40K more expensive , unusable rear seat and even fuel consumption that is not markedly better than the 8.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like an over styled hatchback. They've even ditched the sexy polished piping from the previous V6.

Game over Alfa - good luck.
