Mazda 3 SP23 vs the new Mazda 6 Classic Hatch

I drove a Mazda 6 wagon in Switzerland a few months ago, and was very impressed. BTW, medium wagons (BMW, Audi particularly) are common family cars these days there. Much better idea than medium soft-roaders.
Things might have changed though labrat. Certainly sales of all the big sixes have dropped and even the large 4WD market is starting to dip (but not by much).
Silly Mosman mummy (X5 driver) was quoted in the SMH yesterday saying she believed her kids' safety was more important than the environment. Leaving to one side the fact that large 4WD's are rarely safer than a decent sized sedan or station wagon (and indeed have poor active safety and a much higher rollover risk), some correspondents helpfully pointed out in today's edition that when her kids are grown up and living in a global desert they probably won't thank her for driving them to kindy in a tank.
But, let's not get side-tracked. Still want to know how the wagon compares to the hatch driving-wise and whether there's a chance of a demo becoming available.

Wagon will be difference in handling, but I am sure it goes similar on a straight line. I am sure they don't want to you turn left or right during a test drive :p
Why "sand" colour? I thought you are looking at a luxary sport - which will be leather?
The facelifted model is already black. There is only budge colour in the old 4 speed auto.
I still thinks the Mazda 6 drives slightly better than my 7 year old Camry V6; having done 90000 on it in the last 2 years in it , I jumped into a 6 thinking my Camry is much more powerful (well it is 149kW afterall)....

The Wagon comes in 'sand' (i.e. cream) or black cloth. I'd prefer leather (easy to wipe down) but seat covers will do the job.
I wouldn't consider the series 1, I want the 5 speed auto.
Hmm, wonder if my OEM RX8 wheels will fit the wagon.

Indeed, why would you want to over-tyre the 6 (which runs 7.0's OEM)? It doesn't appear to be overwhelming it's chassis with power.
Seems to me that sticking with 225's on 8.0's is a better bet.
