AU Mazda Australia Parts Increase Again!

Called in Yesterday for a chat with my Mazda Parts Manager mate..

Mazda Australia have just INCREASED Parts Prices again by approx 3%!.

Michael (PM) did some checking and many have gone up 30%!, sneaky bastards!..

He is not a happy Mazda Parts Manager at all, most of the competitive stuff that was discounted by MA to compete with Non Genuine has been taken away.

Particularly Service Items, Filters, etc.

Michael said that Mazda Australia has had a directive from Japan that they have to maintain (send back) their $50 Million Nett Profit each and every year.

So, in every department MA are "maximising" Profit.

================================

I thought this also interesting, about 5 years ago MA sold all their South Melbourne (Port) Land/Premises and moved all there Spare Parts into the "care" of Ford Australia Parts.

Since the "marriage" break up Mazda A are looking at taking back control of Parts Distribution.

MA invested in state of the art Computerised Parts Holding Carousels (worth quite a few million $$'s) at the Ford location. Mazda want to now remove them for their new location and Ford Australia won't let them!..a real bum fight apparently.

IMO it will be good when MA takes back control as it has been an absolute disaster for Mazda Dealers.
Many a time they were shipped Ford Car parts incorrectly when they were meant to be Mazda and Visa Versa for Ford Dealers., mainly because parts were incorrectly Bin Located in the first instance.

MA should never have done this in the first place, all to 'save' the all might dollar!

Too bad but I think there is parts prices increase in nearly every make due to falling AUD$ value.... (or any excuse they will use).

Yes, but it is the same old greed factor again..

When our dollar was 57 cents in 2004 parts Increased,..
Then our dollar rose to 70's,80s,90s and so did the parts, when they became cheaper to import.

So because our dollar goes down it is an excuse to put up prices, it is bullshit, like the price of Fuel...when the price of oil per barrel was where it is today including our dollar, fuel was 90 cents a litre so why are we paying $1.10 to $1.25.

In the US their retail gas price per gallon has more than halved.

My advice to anyone thinking of getting a new RX8 SERIES II IS to not only negotiate a great price on a very low volume selling car

But also

Insert a clause saying that all spare parts purchased for the purpose of servicing REPAIRING your car for up to 100,000 km is done at cost to the dealership .

PARTS TO BE OFFERED AT COST WOULD INCLUDE :ENGINE OIL , SPAK PLUGS ,OIL FILTER, IGNITION COILS ,BRAKE PADS .....ETC ETC .

Its a buyers market after all .......

Cheers
Michael

Yeah right Michael ,

If I had a salesman come to me and ask such a question requesting me to supply parts at cost, I would tell him to get stuffed, no way.

As a parts dealer and parts manager do you think I am here for nothing?..

It is NOT the Parts dealers who are ripping off Mazda Owners at retail, it is Mazda Australia who are ripping off the dealers and their customers.

Most dealer Parts departments in Australia operate on average at approx 43% GROSS Profit margin, take away rent, wages and dead stock (which can be returned..never in my day), there is not a lot of money in it.

Considering I bought a gift shop for a awhile as a change of occupation my Gross profit margin was 85-90%...Clothing is similar.

Mazda Australia are really charging Dealers Retail price (as their list), MA makes around 320% Gross profit in Parts (when I worked at Mazda SA Parts).

And yes it is wrong, I don't know why Dealer Principals allow it.
The trouble is when they say they want more margin (discount) it is the Retail Customer (you,us) who pays not Mazda Australia!.
