Mazdaspeed gearknob = $10,000

Not to sure if the RX-8 Oz community buy their Mazdaspeed parts through the Dealer network.

As from last week, every single Mazdaspeed part on the Mazda Australia list has a price of $10,000. This effectively kills all incoming parts via official channels.

The directive came from a certain notorious Mazda NSW manager whom I think many of will know of.............

That is evil. Why would they do such a thing?

No dealer in our area even know of MazdaSpeed :p This does not stop me from importing them myself though, does it? Even the local accessories shop can still be able to import them right?

so mazdaspeed parts are on the australian parts list? this would be good news for warranty claims with mazdaspeed modifications.

Mazda Australia does not recognise nor warranty any Mazdaspeed parts .

Mazda sees many of the RX8'S PROBLEM RELATING TO ADD ON AFTERMARKET PARTS by various manufacturers and wont warranty them .

They want us to keep our rides virginal stock standard with no mods .

cheers

Ah well....

Taka will recall the Mazdaspeed chit chat survey I went to mid last year. The stuff was going to be dear as poison anyway if bought through Mazda.

Yes, you can still bring it in through other import channels, Taka.

they can say they wont warrant it; but if it comes in a mazda spare parts box, with a mazda part number, and they have it on their mazda parts list, then it would meet the warranty requirements listed in the warranty book as a genuine spare part.

Actually, I think the point of Dave's post was to highlight a tactical manouver by Mazda to prevent any alternative commercial importation. I will defer to lawyers in the area, but my recollection is that Australia's IP laws prevent commercial importation of product if someone already asserts that right (in this case, Mazda), regardless of the fact they have priced it prohibitively.

This is the big finger from MA to performance parts dealers in relation to Mazdaspeed gear...

At the Mazda Australia track day Mazda were saying they were trying to get Mazdaspeed through the dealer network, but it wouldn't be called Mazdaspeed due to issues with advertising rules. Maybe this is stage 1, the parts system may not allow for removal of items so they price it at a huge price, then add the Australian Mazdaspeed items with a different name.

Probably right with that. I was pointing out to Taka that this won't stop him bringing in MS gear in his suitcase. Or by Fedex.

Here's a link to the thread I alluded to a little earlier. Mazda Sports Enhanced (MSE) was the moniker they were using last July.

So I guess if you brought in MazdaSpeed oil in such a manner, it would be a personal lubricant?

The MazdaSpeed stuff is overpriced for what it is anyway. The RP shifters are better, and less expensive.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Totally shameless.

But I'll let happy purchasers speak - just like Timbo. A simple statement of fact :D

Trust me my friends....
When Mazda Australia gives the OK for this stuff to be sold here through the dealer network you will be the first to know.I have the cataloges and the part numbers, its only a matter of time, they are currently negotiating some realistic prices from Japan.

Regards Daz

Let's also hope that they negotiate some better prices for the normal mazda accessories... $514 for a fuel filler lid is just nuts when it is US$90 elsewhere...

Hey all we really need to do is to go to Mazda and spam them with enquiries for MazdaSpeed Products. They will assume the market is there for the product and begin ordering them in in vast quantities.
Enquiries then dry up and Mazda are forced to sell them at a loss to us so they dont get stuck with product.

This tactic is especially effective around end of financial year :-)
