Folks

For those wondering about the welfare of DEZ, I can report all is well but a hefty workload is keeping him busy and with no spare time to visit the forum. He's hoping to again fill the threads with his wisdom sometime soon.

Its notable to also mention the rapid rise to 'senior member status' of nojooc. Although not as prolific as DEZ, he's progress has been in the mould of Andrew Symons. Congrats nojooc!

Aw shucks.

Just an enthusiast wanting to tune in and contribute as much as I can.

I guess I am somewhat guilty of "fudging figures" somewhat.
Its the quality not the quantity of posts that count.

Thankyou and look forward to submitting more quality posts.

Well, it is a great colour and looks really sweet on the RX. But, I don't think there is such thing as a bad colour for the RX :D

Everyone I know that's had a look at my RX seems overly impressed with the blue though.

The people who have seen my car love the blue. I travelled all over Sydney to see all the RX8 colours in the flesh before buying.
My colour order for the RX8 is ;
Blue , Red , Titanium , Black , Green , Silver , Yellow.
They all look good so its a personal thing. The colour that really suprised me was the green. It looks great in the sun and looks black at some angles and green at others.
I was also told the yellow and black were solid colours not metallic. So shouldnt these cars be cheaper ??

That is a good question. In reality, they can charge however they see fit. I suppose they simplify it a little by letting one subsidise the other, in effect.

I'm glad they do it that way.

Have you ever got a price for a Holden? (I have gotten heaps over the years...)

The standard practice is:

1. Write down the base cost.
2. Add the Air (mandatory option most of the time)
3. Add the Metalic (unless you order white)
4. add, add add.....
5. Add GST
7. Add Dealer Delivery
6. Add Stamp Duty
7. Add On-road costs
... ya d ya d ya d ...

At least, generally, with Mazda's I have been able to pick what I wan't and know the price is $X dollars on the road for one trim level, or $Y for the next trim level up. And generaly the different trim levels will pretty match my needs or desires.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Traditionally with the car manufacturers, the solid non metallic colours are usually red, white and yellow.

Black is sometimes non metallic as well, but in the case of the 8, I believe the black and yellow do contain pearls/mica particles making them metallic.

Therefore leaving the red, which appears to be non metallic since it does not appear to contain a pearl or a mica element.

Non of Mazda's literature seems to verify any of these, so I am simply speculating my opinion.

Hehehehe..... standardise motor industry jabbing.
Dealer delivery is the best variable charge ever invented.
By the way Hymee, are you looking at another Holden soon...
....I can price one up for you if you like.

It doesn't contain any perl or mica, just HEAPS of metalic!

Most people comment it looks like a ski-boat, you now that really heavy metalic flick in the gel-coat. Yeah - that is the one.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Dunno.... goes to show some salesman don't know crap about what they're selling, because a couple of the salespeople told me the red was non-metallic when I was shopping for the 8.

Great looking colour though, would have gone red myself, but last car was red and I needed a change.

Nojooc, You have been seriously blinded by that blue, baby...!!

They emptied a Mica mine into a four litre tin of Dulux Red, stirred a little and sprayed the Vel Red 8's with it...Mica Mica Mica.....

Its either been very dark in Syd the last few months, or you didn't see a Red when you ordered your Blue

Where's Ray Charles?

Only Stevie Wonder here mate!
Admittedly, I never got to see a red in person whilst I was shopping around and was only going by what the salespeople had told me.

Those car salesman, a bunch of liars they are!
