A morning at RE Amemiya

A morning at RE Amemiya and a Morning at the Mazda Museum
I had the pleasure yesterday of spending the morning at RE Amemiya in Tomisato City, Chiba. As most Mazda rotary enthusiests will know, RE Amemiya is one of the most highly respected rotary tuning and performance shops in the world. There is not a lot that they haven't achieved in Japan over the past 30 odd years. Although it was an impromptu visit, the General Director, Hidehiko Hori, welcomed me with open arms and showed a keen interest in my current automotive projects. Even though I don't speak a word of Japanese, we were able to communicate well enough to "chat" for a couple of hours. Anyway, enough of this banter....here's a bit of a picture summary of the visit. If any of you get the chance to travel to Japan, I highly recommend taking the time to visit RE Amemiya as there passion and enthusiasm for the rotary engine is second to none.
Cheers,
Danny

Here's a few piccies from our visit to Mazda HQ and the Mazda Museum. I won't post all the photos as I don't want to spoil it for those who are planning/hoping to get there.
Cheers,
Danny

Sorry for the threadjack, but did you encounter any sort of language barrier while in Japan?

They are pretty rare here but I love them because of that and a big luxury rotary is such an unusual idea. I think it was mazda's version of an M5 BMW.
An old member that still pops up here Dave(DMRH) has an awesome one with 500+Hp..

Info from wiki:
The Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE is a 2003 bi-fuel version of the RX-8 sports car, in which the twin-rotor Wankel engine is configured to run on either hydrogen or gasoline. This is the fifth Mazda vehicle to be fitted with a hydrogen Wankel engine. The hydrogen tank, with a capacity of 110 liters at 350 bar stores up to 2.4 kilograms of hydrogen and is fitted in addition to the 61 liter gasoline tank. In 2005, Mazda got street approval for this vehicle. The following year, the first vehicles were leased to customers (Idemitsu and Iwatani). In November 2007, Mazda announced the delivery of 30 RX-8 HRE to the Norwegian hydrogen project Hynor[1].
EDIT: I just noticed, is that a turbo on that motor?
