My understanding is that it replaces the existing CD player, including the six stacker. Can't say if it plays .wma but there are plenty of programs around to convert wma to mp3

I am pretty sure it does not support .wma files. So I think MP3 only....

In terms of size, it does not say .... but it look the same as the CD you have already. It looks as a standard 1-DIN if you ask me.

Hope it helps

The mazda MP3 player operates right from a CD so the limit is about 650MB.

No it is not... it is the same... I guess you can stretch it to 700mb to a disc...

Keep 192bps Max ... any higher quality will not give better sounds (even classical) with the stock set up. So 1 CD can hold about 120 songs. Carry 3-4 disc in your car I have my all cantonese songs in the last 2 years

Even 192 kbps may be overkill for a car stereo. Standard quality mp3 sound is 128 kpbs which means about 5.5 MB for about a 6 minute track (on average). MP3s do some compression, so minimalist electronic will be smaller (slightly) than a 5 piece rock band with vocals.

192 kpbs will take about 8+ MB for a 6 minute track.

If your mp3s are recorded (like I record mine) as VBR (variable bit rate), then you may find rates of 350 kbps or higher on your mp3, giving a file size upwards of 12 MB.

So, if you want to use at least CD quality (128 kbps), you will fit approximately 750 minutes of music (12.5 hours) on a CD (compared to a maximum of 480 minutes of music with the 6 stacker). If you start wandering up the quality scale for the mp3s, then you can effectively half the amount of music down to about 400 minutes or less.

Now, what I want to know is : does the RX8 mp3 player show the mp3 info on the display? Do I just see "mp3 cd", or do I see "Kraftwerk live in Nottingham 2003 - Aero Dynamik"?

MP3 display: yes but English only :o

Don't ask me what tag - I think it is ID v. 1 but i am not sure at all. You get about 13 characters in and you can use the dial on the right side i think marked "text" to scroll left and right. I think the name of the file as well.

I can be set in folders on the disc and come up with CD # in the MP3 player. So folder named "Robbie Willams" in first folder will be shown as CD:1 Robbie Willams. You click display to view other infos.

I check my 192kps which i download (4mb for about just less than 4 min songs)
