Unhappy my oil looks like a mister wippy shake

I know they say it's normal for a bit of froth but it's a bit worring when you can form peaked swirls 1cm in diameter with your dip stick

it was thick and covering the dipstick from tip to handle. it's going in for it's 6month service next week so I'll get it checked.

There's a couple threads on the subject. Do a search on "froth milky oil".

I know it's been mentioned and I have had some froth before. this was just tons of it!

the condensation theory is suspect when it was a warm afternoon, the car was in the sun and we had a dry westerly blowing. the engine was warm and revs didn't bump 6k.

Yeah - nice drifting vid. I got a good one somewhere with in-car stuff as well... Lemme find it and I'll post it sometime. (perhaps I already have....)

The condensation is probably forming overnight....the general opinion is that it is formed in the dipstick tube. It's not necessarily in the sump. If you dip your stick(!) 20 times then you will find that you will have removed all the froth....so it is therefore not frothy oil in the sump. Nothing to worry about.

You will need to take the car out for a good fang a little more often.....evaporate all the moisture off before parking the car in the garage at the end of the day :D .

Regards, Gomez.

You mean the 2.4 meg animated .gif that everyone has to load? :P

Doesn't bother me, but the forum rules say your sig images can't be >200k or something. Thats why my sig is no longer animated.
