I drove another 60km today with the H flash. I think it's pretty good. The car feels strong across the entire rev range.

When you get your car serviced, the dealership will hook it up to the WDS. If there is a newer update available, they will download it. You should not have to pay for it.

It is still under testing...

Hymee can feed you in for more.

If you are in Melbourne Andrew, I can do testing ... since I want to test as many car as possible to see the difference and then to see how to use the data.

If you are in Sydney, I will be in town from Thursday to Sunday :D.

Yes I am absolutely free on Labour Day in Melbourne :p

Wildcard... is your still a "H" flash or it is a "ZK" flash (Kiwi flash) ... your CalID seems to have missed something between the first set of letters and the first set of numeral.

You see I have an G in that place --- so I think it is G flash. So does Gomez. Boyboydan has an F on his set of numbers.

Hymee what do you think?

.
Stronger than the previous G flash ,? because that already gave me increased power accross the entire rev range .

cheers

Yes, Physically I am in Melbourne, mentally I have no idea where I am at :D

If you are free Labour Day I would love to catch up (wanted to speak about your Unichip anyway). PM me and we can sort out details if you want.

Andrew

Yes, the CalID format is different, but that's what it says. It's not a typo! Taka you clearly have a G flash. Who knows what the new one is called. Perhaps I get to name it, like when someone discovers a comet. Lets call it the "wildcard flash". What do you all think? :D

L&L - I think it is a good flash. Not revolutionary, but solid. Worth getting at your next service, but not worth taking the day off work to get it done. If there is a performance improvement, I would only expect it realistically to be slight. There's probably a bit of a placebo effect going on too.

Hymee.

Actually , I rang them as they are the new preferred dealer for my lease company. They quoted me $380 for the 20K service....incl discount. I then rang City Mazda (who I bought the car off) and they quoted $280!!! Brighton have a "special" $100 hourly rate for the RX-8. City Mazda said "WTF?" when I told them that. About the only significant difference b'ween the 10K and the 20K is the pollen filter change.

Brighton can go to hell.

Gomez.

Had my 50k done yesterday. $155

Pity the WDS was down, no chance to check for the new flash SKC's car was there as well, proudly flashing its tips. But I guess it missed out as well.

I dunno what happened to any cars that showed a fault.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I had another fault in with the air bag. This time it was the passenger side seat air bag that needs replacing.

The new flash apparently caused the computer to crash. They must have rebooted the computer with the old flash to pick up my fault code. I am hoping they will have the new flash ready when I go in again.

Wow 50 000k, yours must have the highest mileage amongst the Australian RX8's.

skc

Never paid more than $170 for a service so far. That's 10K, 20K and 30K.

I'm pretty confident to say the only sure way is to interrogate the PCM via ODBII to get the CalID. To do that you need the WDS, or a scan-tool such as the sCANalyser.

Hymee.

That's excellent. I have to wonder if they actually changed the pollen filter for that kind of dough though......

Greetings All and especially Wildcard,

I would love to know where you got your services please ! And how much of the special Mazda oil did they charge you for ?

Ours is due for the 20,000km and is booked in with Gosford soon but it would be interesting to see what other Newcastle or Central coast dealers are offering.

Didn't even ask Gosford what their price is yet - can't possibly be worse than Sutherland !

Regards
Jeffneil

I get my car serviced at Regal Mazda in Newcastle. My 20K service was $162.00 plus $50 for 5L of Rotary oil (I ask to keep what they don't use). I think an oil change uses just over 4L of oil.

Surely the cost of the oil should be included in your service cost i paid $165.00 for my 30,000km service
that included 3.7 litres of rotary oil and recieved the rest in a container .

Any further development with your N flash ?

cheers

Heck - I would have thought the 91RON Pioneer would be game enough to use the "normal **** the dealer puts in".

I always forget to stipulate when I get the services done, so I get the NSTDPI instead of the special pre-Renesis stuff.

Cheers,
Hymee.
