Drive.com uses the phrasing:

"They include lighter and bigger (19-inch) alloy wheels"

lighter than the 18"s??

This was an interesting comment from Mazda ... I wonder what the times were?

"The mechanical changes, however, are sufficient, Mazda says, to see the new RX-8 capable of lapping Victoria’s Calder Park racetrack nearly two seconds faster than the outgoing RX-8."

12.6L/100km and 484km from a tank for the outgoing model? Who claims these figures? Funny how the shorter gearing actually slows it down in a straight line sprint although in gear response would be nice.

Looks great from this angle but I'm still unsure about the new styling.

That's about what I get.
Nearly all hilly country driving.

I got 600 once on the Pacific Highway with the cruise control on .

I would love to test that claim at this year's Nats if a version II car owner enters and is prepared to let a single, experienced driver drive his car back to back with a version I car. Better drive out of corners due to the lower final drive ratios might help I guess.

Still waiting for the official word but rumor has it that Mazda may be bringing a GT version to the Nats for a test drive.

Cool.

I dropped into Crookie today to see if they had the new car but I was a week early.

A salesman fell all over me (despite me telling him I was just tyrekicking), so I've arranged to have a test drive next Saturday. With any luck I'll get to do it solo and find out a bit more than a 5 minute tool around Brookvale will tell me.

Btw, checked out the new 6 while I was there. We have the previous model as a family truckster. It is much bigger. The boot is huge! I'm liking the look of those new Honda Accord Euro's though. Mazda might get some competition when it's time to update...

I'm going to reserve my judgement....and I'm sorry to say Dave unless your're that way inclined...the Accord looks gay.

Unless of course Honda decide to bring the coupe over........

I don't think it looks gay at all. It strikes me as a professionally styled, good looking family car.

Fluffy dice and dancing Elvis is why you only get 300km per tank.
Elvis drinks it while you are sleeping and the dice create wind drag.

It must be the manual that lets you rev higher each gear.

Because we get 450km per tank city-cycle almost every time. Up to 600km on the Hwy.

Mine makes it between service stations.

Good enough for me. If I wanted gas mileage I would drive my wife's Prius.

My wife's new Golf GT TDI DSG sits comfortably under 6L/100k, and manages ...oh...a good 800ks or more on a tank. It's no slug, either (might get it chipped )

No...apparently when you drop $12k on a new gearbox, you learn something about the cost of running certain cars....

...but I sure do (even though I didn't know her when she was so...er...suitably endowed )
