New stuff for my 8

Ah, well ...if you want to display the tracks (and you can't unless your music collection has been encoded in mp3 with proper ID tags, not the AAC encoding Apple uses by default) and also control the shift from track to track using the audio buttons on the steering wheel, you'll need to use something like the Dension IceLink or Neo (which is basically the IceLink) and you'll need to ensure your head unit has firmware version 9.55 or greater. All that is going to cost you at least $AUD300 and a lot more if you need to upgrade your firmware (basically a new head unit in Australia cos no-one can upgrade them here.
Or you can use OverLoad's AuxIn module ($USD59, shipped) and add a nifty little RF remote to your iPod called AirClick ($AUD69), clip the remote to the inside of the sunshield, and control your tracks from that. Of course, this also means you have to organise your music a bit more (cos you can't see it) but that's not hard. Show you at the Nats

Yep - 3-4 weeks on the Simmons. Not long now!

So, I assume you plug the ipod into a cradle arrangement and then take it with you when you leave the car, a bit like a handsfree kit for a mobile right?
Can you post some piccies of the installation so I can get a better idea of what you've done?

Here at last!
Got the new rims today... but I only had time (and light) for some crappy phone pics in the car park before driving home. I'll post better ones soon, promise!
First impressions...
Simmons rims - they are a quality product. Lovely finish that really sets off the look of the car. The yellow and black theme will continue!
Kumho tyres - only driven a few kays so far so not at all bedded in. The first and best impression is the peace and quiet! Man, those worn Bridgies were noisy. It's changed the car dramatically.
Handling seems great but not really tested yet of course. I'll probably play with tyre pressures a bit. No change to the feel of the steering with the wider rims - I think the better tyres more than compensate. At one stage I noticed a slight shimmer through the steering wheel but it didn't return.
I (I mean the car) now get even more appreciative looks. The wheels make it look a lot tougher (words of the guys at the Mag Wheel Centre).
Incidentally, they are a good bunch at the Mag Wheel Centre in Richmond. Really enjoy their work and were really excited to be fitting an 8 for the first time. They took some great pics this arvo which I'll post as soon as I get them. Oh and they even offered to run my old rims back home to my place, no charge - saved me trying to put them in the back seat/boot.
Another bonus was hearing the Hymee catback from outside the car when they roadtested the wheels around the block. That too got very appreciative comments from the guys They loved the workmanship, Hymee.

They're 19 x 8.5J - offset is about 42mm I think. They are custom made 3-piece wheels. I could have had the rears made wider (ie more offset, or a wider rim) but I wanted to keep them interchangeable front-rear so I can rotate tyres.

Wow they look fantastic Will
Now I will have to photoshop what they look like on a red car
I was talkng to DAZ13B at the nats and he mentioned how many dealers were incorrectly finding faults with the window switches and needlessly replacing them. Apparently when the battery is disconnected for a while the switch loses it's memory, you have to hold the switch in the up position for 5 to 15 seconds and then the switch resets itself and is OK thereafter.
I still love the look of those wheels SSSSSOOOOOOOOOO much

There are some pics of 20's on here. Some look nice, but I prefer the 19s - well-proportioned. Dunno about body work - I'd prefer not to touch it. Rolled the arches on my last car,and regretted it.
Good luck with the thesis!
