Angry Not recommended - MRT Performance for swaybar install + Tom Kerr servicing..

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry just need to vent out a little first.
every time I have some mod installed, something always seem to go wrong..
this time it is the whiteline swaybar.
some of you might have read I recommended MRT in Rhodes for install.
well, I take it back.. coz after less than 2 weeks, there appeared a clunking, knocking noise. I suspected the swaybar but did not know exactly what it was.
so I took it to Tom Kerr Mazda first. (I also had some rattle inside so wanted to fix this at the same time) after the road test, they advised me that I will need to have the car booked in. today I booked the car in having advised them, that I have the swaybars fitted and if it's problem with swaybars, leave the car as is because they won't cover it under warranty.

well guess what? they never listened and fixed the problem.
they've identified the problem to installation of the whiteline swaybar in front becoming loose. they charged me $138 for basically retightening it.
I was furious with them for charging me after I told them specifically not to touch it if not covered under warranty because I would have taken it back to MRT for dispute with them. they said that they have to charge me for identifying the problem..

I also called back to MRT Performance with the situation.
after heavy discussion, they said that they it was not their fault if not brought to them first and they cannot do anything. the service manager was telling me that they cannot even apologize for it. (dodgy install) they tell me that Tom Kerr Mazda , of course will tell me that it's the installation problem because they do not like people putting in 3rd party parts. I find this comment outrageous.
the whole saga would not have happened in the first place if they installed it properly. MRT's attitude about customer service disgusted me.
I am due to have some more talk with them.
Well, I have evidence of Mazda's report that it was faulty installation but they don't think it means much. I find it quite laughable now that they pride themselves on their racing background and reputation.

I am sorry to say that for those people who were thinking of installing from them, I highly not recommend them.. I would hate to see another 8 owner go through all this trouble for a rousy swaybar installation.

Sorry to hear your woes but Mazda charging you to merely tighten the front swaybars $138.00 is totally excessive .(its a 3 minute job a blind person could do it)
On the whiteline box it clearly states that the swaybars need re-adjustment after 100km , mine came loose and had them retightened and no problems .

If its any consolation to you the price we got the swaybars for was right so even the extra cost is bellow the retail price .

cheers
michael

I only had my car serviced at Tom Kerr a couple of days ago! Service was fine but they didn't replace the windscreen as discussed, so off to Windscreens O'Brien.

Thanks for the tip on MRT, drive past it everyday to work and no longer tempted .

no, I am definitely not having a good run..

the only grudge I have for Tom Kerr is not listening to what has been discussed.
I guess their service level is not too bad.. they can also provide pickup if you work near by.
however, with most of these service centres, they always forget to do most important thing, which is listen(!!!) to the customer's concern. use thy brains.. grrr.
i told them not to touch it if it's not covered under warranty specifically and they go ahead and do exactly that.. MRT is a whole new story. all this would not have happened if they bothered to install it properly in the first place.

Jeez, $138 for identifying problem/tightening, I wonder what their hourly charge rate is? Certainly puts dentist to shame...LOL!

Wonder what they would have charged if they were working on a 121?

maybe its time to find a new service centre.
i have found rockdale service center extreme good and helpful.... they really do care about their customers and always keep you informed..... to a point where i found it annoying (ie. call a day before to remind you, call to let you know that they have done this and that and should be ready by this time, call to let you know the car is ready for pick up, and call a day or two after making sure you are happy with the service )
theire prices are very competitive, and gives a free loan car.... the one you went to wanted to charge more for same amount of work and loan car is at something like $43 a day and the person i spoken to wasnt all that professional

they probably did, but as L&L mentioned re: re-tightening, they should've ask you to come back and check it after 100kms :o

Mate, you need to get yourself in contact with consumer affairs.
Believe me , both of the companies will be falling over themselves to help you ,once you pack a little heat.

Trust me on this.

Call consumer affiars now and push the issue!

Did you speak with Ian Fisk or the bozos behind the service desk, Ians not a bad bloke, I gave them a plug during my East Coast Targa event where Tom Kerr replaced all fluids at no charge, but have since had some customer service issues and have serviced the car through another Mazda delearship who have been exceptional so far!!!!
