Thanks Gibbo,

I think I talked to a guy named Jason out there.

Well Brookvale Mazda apparently is having a bit of a sale this weekend.
They promised me they will beat 61K with all the above..

I'm really going to push for 60K...

Hi chauman,

Do you know it's considered inpolite to come into someone's self-congratulatory thread and try and burst their bubble by saying you can get a better deal

Anyway good luck on your negotiations. I found that the dealers would rather conceed accessories and options at roughly 2:1 price ration (ie "well give you $2k of extras rather than $1k cash off") - I started at $59K ($43K change over which was no go, got to $60K but not all the extras I wanted and eventually settled for all the extras I wanted plus paint, tint and extended warranty for $61K~$45K change over).

I found it more amazing how many dealers keep calling me back saying they will beat any price I get

Who here has the pure black leather and not the black and red leather?
I'm leaning towards the black leather myself.

The red / black leather is fine for the first few months but then becomes distracting annoying after a while IMHO , i have the plain black leather interior in my lightining yellow and its great easy to live with ,
, i originally wanted yellow/ black leather interior but now i am glad it was not available . :D

Most Car dealers will say anything to get you back to their showrooms hoping to sign you up , by saying that they will beat any price you can get .
Before you sign up make sure you have the right accessories car combination a fixed price and delivery date and make sure you get low delivery km not more than 30/50 km .

cheers

Greetings All,

We have the all black interior in our Winning Blue and love it - the outside is such an incredible colour that is speaks for itself so the all black interior balances it out I reckon !

Congrats Tonym on getting a Winning Blue - another for the Central Coast. Did you have the blue plates on your Titanium ? - just that they looked like they might be coloured from the photos of the wreck. The RTA blue are an almost exact match for the car colour.

I have never seen an RX-8 in the flesh with anything but a leather interior.

How true that most dealers will say anything to get you back into the showroom - slightly related to that - my sister was in the Gosford Mazda showroom the other day after test driving a Mazda 6 and the dealer said 'that ALL their cars are front wheel drive - even the RX-8' and they were sitting only a few metres from a red one.
She knew this was crap as she has ours to compare. So has Gosford got the only front wheel drive RX-8 in the world ???

Regards
Jeffneil

L&L,
Given that you have th black interior, how on earth can the red and black interior becoing "distracting and annoying" in the FIRST FEW MONTHS if you've been with black interior all your holy RX8 life.

Interesting .. where is Waterloo?

Black and red is ok . Plain black is too dull for me.

Accessories can wait unless you get super price. I have shopped around for my accessories since the Jap listed price is lower than Australia. Some alternatives that you like in Japan or US that are not available in Australia
e.g. If you want a metal fuel door, I will prefer Rosenthal Mazda one in the US and it is only $160 shipped cf. $450 listed price here. So in bargining I will get something that is either VERY EXPENSIVE or the price difference overseas is very little.

Hi

Waterloo is in Sydney.
That sounds like a good idea to look at importing, Why do we get ripped off so much ?

I'd love the metal fuel cap, $450 is rediculous though.

Oh Waterloo - near the Royal Reserve. I have ridden though it on the Sydney to Gong bike ride, right?

Importing, you serious? Private import you will need to store the car for an year and bring it in. Where are you going to keep it in Japan? If you are going to pay all the taxes (they are horrible for imports), 3 mil yen will be around 5 mil yen for the Type S when it arrives to Australia. Convert it - then you better off getting it from here and have money to spare modding.

Only good thing about imports market is the second hand car price is so low that like a Skyline R34 cost only $25000, or a RX-7 RS is only $30000.

oops... yes Why not!?

Do you want me to get some contact in Japan - ie. my friend's wife?

Well - all we need is a volunteer to go to Japan and come back with the goodies. :D There is a risk of a cavity search at Custom though. I am sure L&L will enjoy that - why not send him over there :D. Even got caught with tax and penality, some part will stil be cheaper than here.

YEAH! I have found a partner going to Japan!

I am planning to go with my friend next Oct but very unfortunately we have to bring our wives. My friend's wives is a Japanese and she does not mind (if it is for a day or 2 - shopping car stuff with us).

I will go back next Feb to HK - hopefully I can source the Mazda or MazdaSpeed parts.

Quick question

How many Mazda dealers , did you go to before you got the deal?
What sort of strategies did you use?
Is it worth Visiting all Mazda's in Sydney?

There are many different ways to skin the cat as the saying goes.

Ring round as many as you want - you will quickly get the feel for who will be flexible on the price.

I certainly wouldn't visit more than a couple - and only those that showed willingness to negotiate. Unless you want lots of test drives.

Fix a target price, a maximum price and have a clear idea of exactly what you want and how much all the options costs. Then go in armed with your information on what deals others are getting. Be a serious buyer and you will be treated seriously.

Finally, always been definate - don't say "maybe" or "I'm thinking about it" - say "I want" or "No that's not going to swing it".

The quickest way is to email as many dealers as u want tell them that you are buying the car with the first dealership that replies to your terms and conditions including price etc .

Once they respond to you by email theres offer and acceptance . :D

cheers

Oh! I forgot in my enthusiasm - don't forget to order your Hymee Grill Kit - it really is the best $190 you could invest in your new RX8!

I ordered mine last week and it turned up yesterday and will go on the car this week end.

My old RX8 had one of the first grill kits from Hymee as I do a lot of Freeway driving, which I guess is a contributing factor to why I no longer have my old RX8 - the NRMA replacement policy made me happy again

Got mine already!.

Hymee delivered in person to me yesterday. Dealer fitted it today...apparently

ps got to hear the Hymee Enhanced aural tones - he kindly pulled off with some enthusiam to provide a suitable demonstration . Also got to see some components for his next "enhancement" (hope I am not divulging any secrets).
