talk about off topic

How dare Taka take credit for being more untrained more unfit more underprepared than AND more quick. (Well the more quick part was right)
I trained less, weigh much more, couldn't even keep up with a 30km/h group, went the wrong way into a headwind, am much older, but did finish just after 4pm like yellowrx8inoz :D

I think the idea of team RX8 looks like a goer for next years event, we might get in some non training in at the nationals next weekend (desperately trying to get at least slightly related to forum) , maybe a bit of excess food/drink consumption and possibly my BUM will be recovered enough after 10 hours on a bike seat to be able to use the seat of my pants feel again in tracking the RX8. However as bum recovery is a slow process I am not holding out much hope of that.

The frame looks really nicely finished ("hand made") compared to other bikes.
Can I add my cents here??
Canondale a'la crack'n'fail make great road bikes.. but their mtbs leave much to be desired. (Coming from a previous canondale owner). The Headshock that you talk of is not a very good fork as it's not very responsive... stiff? yes.. but not responsive.
For 1250, you can get a current model Giant XTC 2 (if you haggle well) which would be a much better performing bike. And uses very standard parts which make it easy to service. The big plus would be the disc brakes, they're worth their weight in gold.. especially on long descents and muddy conditions..

hope that helps

Everything hurts this year Gary.

Is it a sign of me getting old?

I want to lose 15kg, train everyday, and beat 7 hours again :o. It is a good feeling when you arrive at the finish line and there are only 30 odd riders or so and no family, no photographer and the Jazz band just started singing. It feels so good. That year I finished at 12:30 and the event started at 5:30am!!!!

William, the 9 am ferry was the legardary ferry when the event started at 5:30am and it is only 3 years back; since there were only 100s or so of us could make it each year (out of 5000-6000 keen riders).

An hour every morning on my bike before work does wonders (oh, and no snacks, just cereal and no fat high calcium milk, fruit for lunch, normal dinner with a glass or two of red and no dessert). Result: I'm ~1-2kg under my BMI. Not too shabby for an old guy. Doc says if my blood pressure was any lower I'd be dead and my blood lipids are in great shape.

Good to hear labrat.

I am planning to ride to work every day next year when I get back to city to work. I will picture myself sometimes next year.

I swear I will get under 7 hours next year! A promise.

No bullshit Around the Bay ride next year from TAKA!

Hey Taka, how about you stay the same and the rest of us will try and get fit enough for you to lead the RX8 pack and break the wind for us old slow farts (Please try and restrain yourselves from such obvious puns folks)

new bike

Wow we turn our backs for 2 seconds (well 3 days) and get a new member for next years bike group. Now we can all take turns behind MissRX8 instead of Taka(Now that Taka has won the Premier division at the Nationals I am not too sure if he may need a larger size bike helmet )
Great to hear your back on the bike Kall
