People interested in serious performance upgrades?
Hi all,
By the end of the year I will be looking to have a supercharger installed onto my RX-8. I have the 4 port Auto.
Upgrades will be (over a period of time):
ECU (MoTeC M800)
Exhaust (complete)
Fuel System
Supercharger
We are not sure on power etc. at this stage, but hopefully will be (350+ hp at the flywheel).
It won't be cheap as everything done will be like factory. Done by one of the best rotary workshops in the world - here in Sydney.
Anyone else here interested in doing such an upgrade? or maybe parts of the upgrade?
Let me know (can be done for the 6 port engine also).

Depending on the work done it could be up to AUD$25,000 - this would be for the items listed. This may sound expensive - however they only use the best quality materials, are MoTeC authorised dealers (MoTeC unit can be $5000+ itself - depending on what options you get with it).
I don't have every bit of detail as yet, as we are only about to get started on my RX-8 in the next few weeks. I already have $7K worth of MoTeC equipment ready to go.
It will be www.cityperformancecentre.com - they only specialise in the high-end market. Quality of work is second to none - not just in the rotary world.
This post was really to see if there would be people interested in investing this sort of money into their cars.
Obviously I'll be keeping you all posted with the progress of my car.

$25k is a lot of money in any ones language.
Typically, comprehensive supercharger kits for other Jap cars (such as the Jackson Racing kit for Hondas) are up to $10k.
Jap turbo kits (Greddy, HKS, etc) are usually around the $9-10K mark as well, so I'll guess I'll wait and see what the Jap companies come up with.
But nonetheless, more power to you for wanting to spend that sort of money.
Keep us posted.

Yes - no problems.
But just to note, this isn't just a kit. It will be the whole lot which is all needed to do the job correctly:
Exhaust (complete stainless - mandrel bent)
MoTeC - purchase/installation/tune
Supercharger, belts, intake modifications, etc.
Fuel system from Pump to extra injectors
Intercooler
The only way to do it is to do the lot, not just stop at a kit itself - hence the price.
Will keep you posted for sure.

They are actually for my racing car, but I will be eventually ordering a set of the front rotor's/calliper's for it. The standard rears will be ok.

when I built my racer we thought that just some decent high performance pads would be sufficient. Went for cool carbons, after first day of testing we discovered we needed a serious brake upgrade. After 5 laps, the brake compund had crumbled and the pad backing had heated up so much it had bent around the brake piston. Ended upgrafting series six RX7 brakes onto the MX5 with some serious additional cooling.

I reckon the first thing I eventialy do will be some 4 piston front calipers and discs. I do think it's lacking on stopping power now that I've picked mine up.
I reckon the car is close to perfection and don't what to modify her because I know from previous experiance it takes more than a fillter and exhaust to do anything and more than likely ruin the drivability of the car.
I've also had experiance with the transport authority with problems with mods and in my opinion it's not worth the hassles with a car like the 8. while the kit sugested is probably worth the asking price ($25K) add this to the 8 almost 90K I'd wate for the next rx7 or look at something else.
I had a look yesteday checking the oil and the 8 is tightly packaged! I'd be looking at a centrifugal blower mounted on the left move the battery and plumb it to the std manifold.
just my view :p
