Unhappy problem with engine? VERY WORRIED!

i just got the car for a few weeks. it's now been about 500km( still haven't been to first service), and already i keep hearing a crunch kind of noise very time i take it out on the road in first gear with it being fully warmed up. i only hear it once for a second or 2 everytime l start driving from the parking lot and then i dont hear it again for the rest of the trip. im very worried that i may be a engine fault, so if anyone know of this matter please help.

Probably the ABS calibrating itself noise. Is it about when you first start rolling?

It also seems to get quieter as the vehicle gets older (or you learn to ignore it)

I reported this noise to the dealer for the 1.0K service.

They said it was common and that they removed all wheels, cleaned surfaces and applied lubricants and retightened wheel nuts to specs.

The sound is there but seems softer now.

I had read through most of this site but not come across this, so it is pleasing that it seems common and of no concern.

RE: OBDII Palm software

Choppy,

This is the link to the info about the palm software.

www.auterraweb.com/dynosoftware.html

I have found it very useful (in a gadget freak kind of way).

The data can be sync'd to the PC and converted for analysis on the PC.

For what it is worth: The attached image is a graph of distance, speed and accel from my home to the Airport.

At the moment I mostly use it to view instantaneous MPG.

Comments or thoughts welcome.

I have developed a Palm app for commercial sale (related to my work), and so I am a sucker for cool palm software - I quite like the Dyno app.

Choppy,

Sorry but no!

Busy enough dealing with my stuff and my little distractions, have not paid much attention to pocket PC.

CIAO.

I know its a bit of a thread hijack, but does anyone know of anything cheaper than the software medic8 linked to? I know for US$289 you get cables and connectors and things, but it still seems like a lot of money for something that would be more fun than productive.

Hymee and Sco are working on something exactly like this. I have already provided the examples of the sorts of data that it is capable of generating. Very usefull for tuning etc. Very fun as well.

Have a look at this thread.

Cheers,
Hymee.

No idea.

Yeah, I'm looking at getting an OBD interface going on Pocket PC - and it should be fine with Pocket PC Phone Edition (i.e. an XDA), provided you can get a serial interface cable for it.

Need to get back into it - have a few days off work next week and will hopefully have more time to cut code.
