All,
Just a quick note to let you know the sprints are on this Wednesday and there will be a few RX-8s there, in case anyone else wants to come along.
Prepaid entries close today: http://www.queenslandraceway.com.au/...entry_form.pdf

hi SCO, How was the track day. Unfortunately I could not make it...it was too short a notice for me to get past the wife.
I am also trying to get my work organised so I can accomodate my trip to NZ with the family in two weeks time.

Hi skc. I did mention this on the Queensland section or rx8club.com.au a little while ago. Would have given you a call, but I've lost your number.. PM me when you get a sec.
Good day... 4 RX-8s there. A few dattos, 1 WRX, 1 EVO, Soarer, and a fast Integra plus a few others. Rain threatened the whole time but we were lucky with 3 sets of dry laps and one set with the track damp.
Coming out of the last turn before the straight with it greasy was interesting and showed off the capabilities of DSC nicely. Traction control was kicking in for me on the acceleration out of that corner in the dry... will be trying half off next time to see what impact that has on time.
One RX-8 driver was his first time out on the track and showed some great improvement to the point where he got the fastest time on the last set of laps despite the greasy track. He didn't know about the forum so hopefully he'll drop in and say g'day.
No major issues... one driver had a spin and got a CEL, which was easily diagnosed and fixed with sCANalyser. The first time RX-8 threw a low coolant level light... looks like there was a bit of hiroshima air in the system which was finally worked out with a bit of a good rev. Nothing a quick top up couldn't fix. We were worried as it looked like it was leaking but then we found out the A/C was on for the first set of laps! Subsequent laps with it off showed a noticeable improvement (some of it probably also attributable to growing confidence).
Everyone was happy with their results... my times have dropped significantly from my first track day and are much more consistent and comparable to more experienced drivers. Next years Nats should be a bit more fun as hopefully I'll be a little closer to the pace with some more practice under my belt.
Enjoy your trip. Hoping to get together for a cruise after Xmas... so hopefully will see you then.
Cheers

Hi SCO
Well done. Sounds like you had a good day. The weather looked threatening but it seems like you had a relatively clear day.
It seems I should visit the .au forum more often.
We should try for more track days before the next Nats...I dont want to get left behind in the track skills dept. My car also needs a wheel balance since the last Nats as it vibrates like crazy .
Cheers
