Quick Intro

Hey guys

New guy here from Sydney.

Been trying to get onto the .au site for a while, but never got the email back from the admin to activate me, maybe it went to spam and i never noticed it. So i've jumped on here.

No RX8 in the driveway yet. Just keeping an eye out for the perfect 2nd hand one. Hopefully not too long now.

Griff.

Welcome!
I had the same problem with the .au site ages ago. I even emailed them and never got a reply. It doesn't matter, the people here know their stuff and seem like a nice enough bunch anyway.

Thanks DrGonzo. Glad to see i wasn't the only rejected from the .au site. I've noticed a few of the .au guys are on here too anyway.

Tim Tam. That started to sound perfect till i kept reading all the mods and started thinking this would be above my budget, it was well over...

I think once i get close to purchasing (haven't even applied for loan yet) i'll have lots of noob questions about buying the car... just pre-warning everyone.

Thanks guys.

Griff.

Welcome, I too had the same problem with the au site. The people are friendly on this site, plus some of the USA guys are very on the ball.

DrGonzo - That one has some low K's! Can't beat a Brilliant Black 8 :D, see below!

Awesome find. I have been hesitant about the 04s. Mainly because of the updates on the 05. No idea what advantage a 32bit ECU would have over the 04s ECU (16bit?). To me it sounds like an upgrade from an old Super Nintendo to a Playstation 2.

Am i just being silly about the 04s?, i'm sure many of them are running around fine and hassle free.

You don't want an 04, as they have a black washer fluid bottle, when the 05s have clear. How would you ever know when to fill it up?

Mine's 05 registered 04 built and to be honest I have no clue about what the differences are. Mine has been hassle free - it has had all the recalls done and from what I have read from these forums, as long as the recalls have been done and the car has been properly cared for and maintained, you really shouldn't have any issues.

Someone with more RX8 experience should be able to give you a better answer though

Just between you and me... that was the thing i was most concerned about, i mean honestly, what where they thinking?

I'm sure the forums are full of FUD about 04s. It's reassuring to here from 04 owners about their trouble free 8s.

Thanks again guys.

Welcome Griff.

Mine's an '04 and provided the ignition problems are sorted out (e.g. battery, plugs and starter motor), you shouldn't have too many problems with them.
