It is crazy to do that.
Try to ring the Recardo distributor (which I lost the contact number) they said they have ready made resistor for most cars (to just plug in).
The tighter hug maybe due to the age of the Recaro sides which did sack for my car after 4 years... That is why I have conservation for another SR series Recaro.
Anyway. It looks great atm and that matters. I am sure the airbag light issue will resolve :fingersx

Hmmm, not sure if this is a mod for me. I like the OEM seat and don't feel the need for extra support.
Think I might put that money towards FI instead.
BTW, what's the ask for a pair of leather Bride seats (installed)? Tell me to pi$$ off if that's a rude question.

Autotek is not the distributor anymore... someone in melb is, cant remember the name on top of my head.
the recaro SR series are pretty good and affordable in the recaro range... the DC5 SR is more comfortable than the DC4's, and looks abit better! Have slept in DC5 SR twice, not the most comfortable workshop "bed" to sleep in...
the RX8 seats are very comfortable and quite supportive. just wish it has more padding around the waist area for more support (the hip area is fine for me). it is very simiar to the Recaro A8 i had, wish i had kept them.
Dave, if you want to save weight for track days, dont bother with the luxo style aftermarket seats, go kalvar/CF composit or even full CF seats.... but you are looking at big bucks... a top of a range one would cost over $8k each, without the seat rail. the seat rail can always get modified for your liking/seating position (not everyone is the same length/width-wise ;-p)
Zephyr's BRIDE looks comfortable, and im sure it will be very comfortable for daily!

I suggest you get yourself a potentiometer and dial it up until the airbag light goes away. Measure the resistance value and purchase one closest to it. Resistors come in 10, 5 and 2 percent tolerance. It seems like the feedback loop is a constant current source. The resistor value of 2 ohms might be too low hence the PCM triggers a fault code... in this case a short circuit. 2 ohms as a load is going to draw some current. Usually, a feedback loop is in the mA... that is for low power consumption and more importantly no heat in a load circuit. With a potentiometer... at least you can increase the resistance to get the optimum current for the feedback loop to function correctly.

was referring to the DC2 teg type r... DC2 comes in 2 model variants, ie. VTi-R and Type R. DC4 is the GSi variant...
just like my Ek, dont know what to call it.... should i call it EK, Ek series 2? honda civic 1999 model? or honda civic 6th gen?...... all too confusing

So I could buy Brides (which equates to one quarter of the only currently available S/C kit) or go the whole hog for carbon fibre and spend over half the cost of a S/C kit on it?
Hmmm, still think putting that money towards FI is the better option (for me!).
BTW, as of this morning, I now have less unsprung weight, more grip and a quieter ride.

i made the warning light go away.
went to racing project this afternoon, and they helped me plug the 1w 2.2ohm resistor in, only took 5mins , and after that, connected the battery back started the the car and guess what, no more warning light. they even helped me cleared the dianogstics
so happy now

it's not soldered, they twisted the wires at the end and made it sort of in to a plug thing, and they assured me it's not going to fall out or anything, and i comfirmed it afterwards, very tight indeed, cant see the wiring at all.
and when i went home i taped it all up to make sure no dirty bits will get in
i know i know what some of yous might say, it's not soldered and nasty things might happen, but i'll say im happy with the result

I might try that very resistor on my MX5. Had no luck so far.
Are you also running a harness to with the seat. To go with my racing seat I am having a harness installed that simply just clips in and out for track days. Have it really feel like the race car experience except at a slower speed

no, i dont have a racing harness to go with it, i mainly use it for daily drives
although im gonna get some new rims and some new coilovers soon
give it a shot iliv48, the resistor might work for the mx-5 as well.

Ok the door side is easy but for the side beetween de seat and center console. Y have three point sparco arness but sometimes I need to take some people in rear seats and I need to can use the oem safety belts in that case.

Sorry to bother you, I am not quite sure I understand the bypass method that you mention.
is the 1w 2.2ohm resistor that you have to buy and plug it back to the connector to fool the sensor? Please let me know where you get that?
I heard that even if the airbag light went away, the passangers airbag will not work as well. Simply the purpose is to make the light go away....

The front belts on a 8 are mounted to a steel rod bolted to the door still. Try using that for one side and reuse a mounting bolt on the side by the trans. You might also need to rig something with parts from a site like THIS

Nelson in racing project did it for me as well. I have to ask him what he did but at least it works.
The passenger seat in US may have a weight sensor, no such problem for Aussie spec. If there is one, just fool it as well so it will assume that there is passenger all the time. As far as I know my 2003 model has none since there is no indication of seat belt warning light in the passenger seats.
