Rattle issues...
Hi all,
just looking for some guidance regarding a rattle or vibration i have in the left hand side of the rear shelf (where the speakers are). The sound is quite a loud metallic noise that appers to be flex related (smooth roads over bumps fine, but turning over bumps i hear it).
Has anyone else had this type of thing ...i know it's very broad.... or could someone enlighten me as to how i can remove the rear shelf plastics to see if i can hunt it down myself....
Thanks for your time..
Simon

Removing that rear parcel shelf is a right pain. I thougth about doing it when I did my car PC install but changed my mind
To do it you have to:
1. Remove rear seats
2. Remove scuff plate
3. Remove rear tyre housing trim
4. Remove rear pillar trim
Then you can get to the parcel shelf trim.
It might be easier doing a bit of inspection from the boot.
If you're keen a search will find you the workshop manuals - you want Part 11 - Body and look at the Rear Package Trim Removal/Installation

I have found 2 areas in the rear where rattles have been fixed
1. Panel attached to the back of the rear seat ( this is accessed from inside the boot.
2. The side trim between the rear seat and the rear door. On the leather pack ( no sure about POV pack ) the back of the join basically sits against the body ( the piece of felt only covers 1/3 of the panel ) . You can see this if you pull back the black rubber door seal.

First, just check the rear windows are properly locked, via the overcentre catch. Simple, but sometimes, it is the simple things. Also, check the front pax seatbelt clip (if unoccupied) is not ratting against the side of the seat. Then talk to the dealer

Don't mean to hijack this thread, however I've got a rattle which seems to come from the middle of the dash, toward the windscreen. What's the situation regarding getting this fixed by my dealer? It's covered under warranty, no doubt?

rev it up
Is there any lubricating spray out there that can help alleviate these annoying rattles. I do not like the idea of ripping off panels as they can loosen the holding pins and make the problem worse.

See if this helps.
I got that rattle too, at top end power when the aftermarket filter vibrates the cabin.
Especially the centre speaker middle of the dash. So I wouldn't bring it up at a service.
But if its standard, and comes with rattly noises, then thats a problem to be solved, free of charge.

I have the same problem with my rear shelf, seems to be a sliding panel inside the shelf towards the rear passenger side.
I've taken it to my local dealer who say that there a plastic panel between the seat brackets seemed to be the problem and placed pads between them to stop the knocking despite this it still remains there, and is becoming very annoying, has anyone been able to resolve this similar issue?
