I've given up trying to fix my squeaks. Its odd because if you park the car in the sun for an hour it doesn't make any noises. Ususally its garaged at home and work so its always squeaking. Mazda Australia came up and looked at my car and couldn't offer any solutions. I think one of them suggested turning the stereo up....

So NEW SOLUTION:

I am attempting to superglue a new hex nut to a washer then to a plastic tap washer: SO 1) it does not move about 2) harder for the plastic to wear out.

Coz what I found is when the plastic is worn off the squeak will come back.

Will keep in touch - if successful - it will become the perfect car for me personally At least it is a fat alarm no more :o

OMG

I will try the TAKA method tonight. I am expecting a Nobel prize if it really works

EDIT: I mean a Nobel peace prize. You see, Peace = No more noise.

Same here deano... just keep adding them to the list I present at each service... never seem to get fixed permanently though.

after reading this thread i was also concerned about the cranking noise too and i had the car only for 3 monthes, and yes it's very irretating. so just then i zoomed to the garage and went to inspect the seats and guess what, nearly the whole driver's side seat was loose, while the pessenger side remained very tightened. so now out comes the spanners, will let yous know the results. My dealers will hear about this for sure!!!!

My noises are from the dash, centre console and around the steering column. My seats have been pulled out and they are tight. I think its just a bit of flex in the chassis combined with plastic on plastic throughout the interior...

we've got a chassis/door flex issue on the drivers side... the rubber seals squeek against each other under any kind of load- even going over a slight bump in the road at 10 km/hr. It's only bad when it's warm outside though, on really cold days it's non existant... It'll get serviced in early december, and they'll be finding a solution

Well, I've watched all this with interest and have to say mine is pretty damn quiet. Certainly no seat creaks although there is sometimes a rattle on the pax side which I traced to where the seatbelt buck sits against the door/seat when not used -- just needs to be moved.

So.... a question ... do all of you with this problem have the leather model? Mine is the pov pack -- maybe cloth seats makes the difference ???

Both manual cloth and electric leather have reported noise issue in the US. I guess the leather ones have higher rates since they are heavier seats.

I still insist that it is a fat alarm :o

Taka,

Can you confirm before I get the spanners out that the plastic washer worked for a while? Wonder if a soft metal might be more enduring, brass maybe?

I just install it last night. I found when the rear left nut is not tight enough, you can rock the rail front and back and make noise. So I put it into the chassis before tighten the rear left bolt. I don't think it require washer there if it is tight - coz it is not the contact between the bolt and rail causing the noise. The front one I am not sure, so I put the washer combo in.

I suspect if the rear is loose causing the front one to creak --- The washer is in and the rear is tight - Will test it for the weekend and let you know.

I've got a new squeak, the drivers side door makes a constant annoying squeak noise. It stops if I hold the door and pull it further into the closed position.

Has anyone else experienced this or do they have a fix for it?

Deano.

Deano do you pump your stereo?

Its not a bmw mate Some squeaks will be around..

I have not noticed anything on mine related to the door but after Rockdale Mazda Service Department looked at my squeaking problem it has only appeared once or twice taking corners really hard.

Phillip

I love the car but squeaks and rattles really drive me nuts. Its not a BMW but its also by no means a cheap car.

Deano I have fixed the front nut...

It does not squeak on my track day. The rear one has not been fixed and it squeaks in extreme situations.

The solution is to superglue a 1/2" plastic washer (as in the one for hoses) to the bottom of the hex nut and tighten it to a point that the plastic washer JUST started to flatten. (a good torque sensor hehe :p) - it will not squeak then even I am 90kg now :o

WARNING: I have no idea of the "looser" screw is going to do in an accident. So modify it in your own risk - but at least there is no more squeak.

Mazda AUS have a fix!

Fellas,

I've been experiencing the squeaky seat problem with my leather-pack RX8 for the past few months now. I've tried on several occasions to get it fixed by the dealer and on each occasion, they've had a crack (and sometimes come close, thanks to you guys posting your ideas) but have not solved it permanently.

Here's the good news: Mazda Australia just happened to ring me to find out if i was happy with my recent 10k service. I told them everything was fine, except that they still haven't fixed the squeaky seat (I asked them to try again, hoping that Mazda would have a solution by now). The guy was surprised and transfered me to a tech (Michael). He quickly looked up the problem in their database and told me that the dealer should have fixed this as there it is a known problem with a working fix!

Has anyone else been to a dealer that knows what they're doing? Apparently they need to remove the seat and seal the seat bolts with silicon sealant. There is an article (TSB?) on Mazda's service and support database - all the dealer needs to do is look it up!

Mazda are taking it up with my dealer and I'm waiting for a call back. Hopefully the days of my RX8 sounding like the upstairs newly weds are almost over! :D

Hmmmm silicone to grease the mouse before using the gaff reduces the squeak......

Am gonna have to give it a go cause it's gotta be better than losing 10kg to find out if it's my **** causing the problem! Muchas Gracias Eduardo!

I think it's Taka's plastic plus Ed's silicone........sound like I'm building pamela anderson!!!!

Hey, i'm having similar problems - specifically squeeking coming from the back window. and it's hot here, and my car is in the sun almost all day. so it's not just coming from a cold start. and it does happen more often with turns. it sounds almost like the entire body is flexing. i'm going to have a buddy drive it to verify it....just because my dealership does a wonderful job of fixing issues I'm having. For example, there's some noise during shifts that sounds like a clunking sound.....still gotta get that fixed.
