Okay, I had the mild steel with short taper fitted last tuesday and have driven 300k's since then. Driving away from the exhaust centre I thought OMG, this is loud.....
Since then though, either my ears have adjusted, or the car has!

The exhaust is of a very high standard of fit and finish, the only comment the fitter had was that the assembly lacked "fences" on the hangers to locate the mufflers centrally when bolted up. I s'pose that since the tips are so much bigger, not having the fences allows custom fitment to get the tips spot-on centre in the bumper. Every car is different.....

My guy adjusted the final placement with plastic ty-raps on the hangers. This allowed a millimetre perfect fitment in the bumper! Looks great.

Idle is only a bees dick louder, at 3000rpm you can hear the change in note clearly in the cabin, though as I said, after a week I find it's not too intrusive....and I'm pretty conservative. I haven't heard any whinging from the backseaters, so that's AOK. No perceptable difference in performance, then again , I didn't expect one.
I bought it for a few reasons.....as an ex rider, I liked to save the orig exhaust for refit when selling. Aftermarket pipes are heaps cheaper than the originals, (no, I don't know what Mazda charge for a new muffler assy....but it won't be cheap). I did not like the look of the original fart can, and I wanted a little sportier note. Hymee's exhaust therefore bats 1000, using a baseball parlance....

Pics below...

Thanks Mez. Looks really good.

I like the leaf in that 2nd photo. Carefully positioned to look like flame Perhaps the colour of the leaf is "Autumn Flame"?

Good idea about the ties, although mine hasn't shifted out of position.

Cheers,
Hymee.

PS - need to update your sig!!

Your short tapered hymee exhaust gives your pov pack a touch of class .

Hymee can now relax and sleep well knowing there is another hymee exhaust happy camper .

cheers

One final comment: is it my imagination, or does the exhaust get slightly quieter after some use, as carbon builds up inside?

Very possible. The theory sounds sound. Mine still barks when I use the loud pedal. I reckon it crackles a little more on the overrun.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I now also have a Hymee and after nearly a week am suitably impressed. One complaint, no where on the box did it mention WARNING - Will cause large increase in fuel consumption due to excessive showing off and aural enjoyment.

I love hearing those revs!!

lexic... lucky you has just got the H-flash - still one step ahead of Mazda itself. Will the manufacturer dare challenge Hymee - or go straight to I for their next update?
